History of the Bible:
History of the Bible:
Introduction:
I am glad you all here, tonight. I would like let you all know that this is kind of a commitment. for starters if you miss a study it will become confusing for you. i am here to teach the truth. so Bible study is kind of beginners series or basics of the Bible. most of the information i get will come from this Book Call Faith: Finding it; Keeping it. by Clifton Harper. Clifton Harper is a preacher out in Hollis Oklahoma. So the first lesson from the Book is call what is the Bible? at the end of this lesson if you do not remember anything i want you remember the word Bible after this lesson. what you need for this study is a Bible.
Lets talk about the history of the Bible for moment, so here some question i would like to ask, as we go through this lesson. i want you to think about this question. you do not have to answer them out loud.
Question 1: What is the Bible?
Question 2: what is it personally to you, and to the world?
Question 3: is it just a book or is it something else?
Question 4: What makes the Bible the top selling book of the year?
these question are usually normally ask all the time by people who do not understand the Bible or have very limited knowledge of the Bible. these people never get a good answer. However the Christian or a Believer understand that the Bible is the inspired word of God. if you have a Bible with you, Lets turn into are Bible to (2nd Timothy 3:16)
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
so what does the word Bible mean?
The Word Bible comes from a Greek word known as “Biblos”
Which means “Book”
we can understand that the Bible is a Revelation of God’s will to the Human family.
it is pre-eminently the Book.
now that we known little bit about the Bible lets look at how it was written. many people assume that since the Bible was written by men then Bible has its faults because it was written by many man, and we would assume that man’s idea’s would be written down. the interesting thing about the author of the Bible is there was only one author. this world or people who do not believe want you to think that there is multiple writer's or authors because of Man’s will or desire to be worship. the reason i say that there is one author is lets look back at the verse we just look at in 2nd Timothy 3:16 which states.
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
look at the first half of verse 16. “All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God.”
so every word that was written down had come from God himself.
if we look at the second half of this verse here “And is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
we see that the Bible is Profitable for doctrine, for Reproof, for Correction, and for instruction in righteousness.”
lets see here for Doctrine this would be guidelines on how to be Christians
as Christians we need to Reproof which we need to be reminded all the time about the Guidelines
for Correction, we as Christians make mistakes all the time. there going to be times when we misinterpreted or misunderstand scripture. we will take things out of context in order to justified our desires or something that we would want to happen to us.
for Instruction in Righteousness, the Bible teaches us on how to live a life godly and holy life, but we must put in the effort to live up to God’s expectations.
Now that we broken down the verse in 2nd Timothy 3:16-17, look at the Bible for a moment as book, but look at it like this, every book has an author, and the author has theme throughout the book he writes to the reader. The Bible is a unique book for a reason, can you guess what that is? The Bible was written by 40 different men who had to listen to God. some of those men wrote more than one book too. the unique thing about the Bible is that if man had a part in inspiration of the Bible. The Bible would not have the same theme throughout the entire book. The Bible is unique because it was written by 40 different people from Moses first to John being the last and has the same theme throughout the book. there is no other book like the Bible. no other religious book could claim this or other books that are written by men. it took a 1600 years to complete the Bible, and throughout this time span many of this men who were inspired to write their section had no time to come together or live during different time spans. the only expiation for this is in 2nd Peter 1:21
21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
