Psalm 26 (NASB95)
A Psalm about David integrity. A scary thought for many, as we know who we are and who we have been.
A Psalm of David.
1 Vindicate (Judge me - imperative) me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity, (Heb- tom, integrity, completeness, fulness, innocence, simplicity)
And I have trusted in the Lord without wavering (Literally -without sliding).
David was all in. Truly a man after Gods own heart. How do you become all in if your not? You can’t fake it.
2 Examine me, (intensely scrutinize me) O Lord, and try me;
Test my mind (KJV - reins lit kidneys) and my heart.
The kidneys were seen as the place of the inner man. Greek word splackna. We say :we have a gut feeling.
3 For Your lovingkindness (hesed) is before my eyes,
And I have walked in Your truth.
Here David says he is has continuously walked in Gods truth with intensity/purpose. What does that mean?
4 I do not sit with deceitful men,
Nor will I go with pretenders.
Speaks of those who conceal, hide, be hidden, be concealed, be secret. Hypocrites.
5 I hate the assembly of evildoers,
And I will not sit with the wicked.
6 I shall wash my hands in innocence,
And I will go about Your altar, O Lord,
7 That I may proclaim (loud and with intensity) with the voice of thanksgiving
And declare all Your wonders.
David was never ashamed to praise the Lord.
8 O Lord, I love the habitation (appearance, layout, design) of Your house
And the place where Your glory (kabod) dwells.
The Hebrews saw God as a mystery and mysterious) always more to know.
Ephesians 1:18–19 NASB95
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might
Ephesians 3:17–19 NASB95
17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
There is always more to discover about God!
9 Do not take my soul away along with sinners,
Nor my life with men of bloodshed,
10 In whose hands is a wicked scheme,
And whose right hand is full of bribes.
11 But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;
Redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12 My foot stands on a level place;
In the congregations I shall bless the Lord.
We who are in Christ can also say we stand on / in a level place., on solid level ground, on the rock.
Psalm 27 (NASB95)
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
Interesting Jesus is the light of the world and is our salvation (Jesus= Yahweh is salvation)
The Lord is the defense of my life;
Whom shall I dread?
What is dread? Its way more that fear. to fear, tremble, revere, dread, be in awe or dread
2 When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh,
My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though a host encamp against me,
My heart will not fear;
Though war arise against me,
In spite of this I shall be confident.
4 One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord
And to meditate in His temple.
5 For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle;
In the secret place of His tent He will hide me;
He will lift me up on a rock.
6 And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,
And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice,
And be gracious to me and answer me.
8 When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You,
“Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.”
9 Do not hide Your face from me,
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not abandon me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation!
10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me,
But the Lord will take me up.
11 Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me in a level path
Because of my foes.
12 Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries,
For false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as breathe out violence.
13 I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.
