Opening question: why are friends important?
We need friends in our life.
We are not on this earth to live alone.
That is not in God’s design.
If it were God’s design he would have never given Adam Eve.
So if we are intended to live with others that means God intended for us to have friends.
So i want to talk about three different times of friendship.
I. Bad friendships
How would you all define bad friendship?
Bad friendship for us is going to be any friendship that hinders your ability to act like Jesus Christ.
If you have a friend who is leading you to do evil things, that is not a friendship.
That is someone who is trying to pull you into their evil ways.
a. Bad friends bleed down to you
Now this isn’t to say to avoid people that are sinful, if that was what the Bible is saying we would have to live in isolation.
What this is saying is that if we are in the world, trying to live to show ourselves as associated with the world we will fail.
To define a friendship as bad it is one that changes us for the worse.

Bad friendships lead us down bad roads.
when we embrace these bad friendships we go down roads that are not healthy or good for us.
Christ is not pleased when our life is unpleasing to him.
when these friendships do this it means one thing.

These friendships aren’t true friendship
bad friendships will always tear you down and make you act unchristian like
II.
Good Friendships
What do good friendships look like to you?
A good friendship should strengthen us and build us up.
If one in a friendship isn’t saved but the other is is it OK to still be friends with that person?
Absolutely, but with caution.
We have to make sure our friendship with that person is not one that changes us for the worse.
In fact if they are unsaved, our friendship with them shouldn’t change us, it should change them.
They should see christ in us and want to know what is going on within us.
this verse proves that
a. Good friendship builds us up.
In the times when things aren’t going our way.
When we are facing lifes hard battles.
A good friend helps us to remember where our hope comes from and helps us through the hardest of times
Do you think good friendship is hard to find?
Sure it is but the good news is that we do not have to do it on our own.
if we live our life for Jesus Christ he will send us good friends who will build us up.
It is the call of the word of God that our burdens are on each other.
meaning a good friendship is from the Lord and we aren’t alone through our burdens.
But what do you think the best friendship we can have is?
There is a friends that the Bible says we can have that is closer than a brother.
III.
God’s friendship
There is never anyone who will be there like our Lord.
His love is everlasting and will never let us down.
Having a friendship with Christ is as simple as asking him to forgive you of your sins.
accepting him as your savior, who you affirm went to the cross of calvary, died for your sins and rose again on the third day.
Then it is simple, just live your life for him.
