Creatio ex nihilo vs the World
Creatio ex nihilo vs the World
Why do we need to understand how creation came to be?
So we can see have a correct worldview
Society tries to teach us that it happened through random events and without God.
It helps us understand God
So how did creation happen?
Creatio ex nihlo= “Creation out of Nothing”
The church has historically held to the view of “creatio ex nihilo”- that creation came out of nothing
Gen. 1:1
Matter and Time were began by God
God did not start with something and shape it into the world but he spoke and created.
Society has always debated and tried to prove otherwise.
When the church had just started people came up with theories that are similar to Darwin’s theory of evolution.
In the past 200 years the church has had its greatest challenge to the creation story, with the publication of Darwin’s theory of natural selection.
This view states that all of life originated from a common ancestor and has progressed to lead us here.
It is all by random chance and completely void of the work of God.
So how do we know whats right?
2 Reasons:
Evolution and the world being Millions of years old doesn’t work
Irreducible Complexity
DNA and RNA- can’t have one without the other
1st law of thermodynamics
there is a set amount of energy in the universe, how did it come to be?
There had to be a creator.
The scriptures speak of God as being the sole creator of all the universe, and as we have already established they are creditable and sufficient to understand the things of God.
After small groups
People will always try to explain the world apart from God
Rom. 1:18-25
When we try to explain the world without God, we fall into all sorts of issues
Abortion
Racism
It is up for Christians to stand up for what is true
