Totally Committed Romans 12:1-2
INTRO: Daniel Fast; Spring Revival; Holy Week; EASTER
I’ve made the statement “Christ gave all of Himself, for all of yourself” I have a scripture to prove it.
ROMANS 12:1-2 - TOTALLY COMMITTED
TOTALLY COMMITTED WITH YOUR BODY
E - BODY-Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God...
R - Our physical body represents the totality of our activities.
Our bodies are vehicles of expression.
People may listen to what you say, but believe what you do.
A - Why is my body important? Your body is the temple of the Holy
Spirit. 1 COR 6:19-20 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
Our bodies are not to be trashed but OFFERED to God. That is His LOVE!
TOTALLY COMMITTED WITH YOUR SOUL
E - SOUL - this is your true and proper worship.
True and Proper Worship is from the SOUL. JN 4:24
R - Worship is not a Sunday experience, it’s an everyday experience. A-What does this WORSHIP look like? It looks like...
Contentment Instead of frustration. Phil 4:12 I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
Humility of character Instead of selfishness. 2 Chron 7:14 - If my people who are called by my name humble themselves,
Self-control Instead of ruled by passions. 2 Tim 1:7- God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control (sound mind).
But then there’s the 2nd verse...Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Often MIND and BRAIN are confused. BRAIN
MIND
It’s a MENTAL thing No blood/No Cells
It’s a physical thing blood vessels and nerve cells
TOTALLY COMMITTED WITH YOUR MIND
E - Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind.
R-Conform - to comply, to act in agreement with the standard.
Conformity is concerned with your relationship to patterns/fads.
Transform - to change in nature; character; convert.
A-Not Human - transformation is the work of the Holy Spirit.
Because of the HS You have a CHANGED NATURE-2 COR 5:17; EPH 4:22-23. put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
CHANGED CHARACTER-GAL 5:22-23 the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control
As THE MIND keeps on, your lifestyle keeps on being transformed.
Coordinates movements, body functions
