Caught in the Crosshairs

1 Samuel 20

Memory Verse 1 Samuel 20:14-15

EXPLAIN How the test of Saul works and proves Saul’s intentions

Happened just after Saul tried to kill David and Michal helped David escape.

Neither David or Jonathan knew for sure if Saul’s temper/spirit had calmed down.

If Saul is cool, wont care that David takes care of affairs at home because that is what he is supposed to do.

If Saul is not cool, he will see it as an attack against him and cover up for David to run away.

Why doesn’t David just go ahead and run away?

David does not just simply run away because 1. If Saul was not upset he would have more oppportunities to serve the king and 2. Saul would know where to find him.

If David can’t just run away then what should David and Jonathan do?

Friends of faith bring God into the conversation on important things when caught in the crosshairs.

David and Jonathan understand that the actions of Saul and their responses reflect on the promise they have made to God.

For most of the things going on in you and your friends lives, we let God sit on the sideline while we try and figure out how we are going to figure it out by ourselves.

Friends trust one another while knowing the world is waiting to put them in the crosshairs.

Friends follow God even when caught in the crosshairs.

Friends know that even if the shot is taken eternity still goes on.
