For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
When Jesus Christ came to the earth he changed things.
He brought the gift of salvation and gave us a much easier means to achieve it.
See before Jesus you would have to go to the tabernacle in a certain way with a perfect sacrifice to receive God’s forgiveness.
Jesus however became the perfect sacrifice for all of mankind and gave us a route directly to the father.
When we pray Jesus as the mediator hears our prayers.
then carries that directly to the throne room of heaven.
The wonderful thing about Jesus Christ is he gave this gift to everyone.
Not simply the elect or superior.
God’s grace is for all.
So Paul was just relaying to Titus what I am sure he already knew but he shared because the grace of God is always worth sharing.

Paul is stating here that Jesus Christ has taught us to live in a certain manner.
Why do you think that Christ expects us to live in a certain manner?
As you have grownup your parents have disciplined you and still do from time to time.
They do this because they don’t want you to grow up behaving in a way that hurts others or yourself.
In the same way Christ does not want you hurting yourself or others through your actions.
The things that Christ has laid before us as sins are laid before us because if we live a life doing those things we will cause harm to come unto our self.
Do you like discipline? Why or why not?
Discipline isn’t supposed to feel good.
It’s supposed to profit us but it hurts.
Discipline does not feel good but we have to have it.

So now Paul tells Titus that they are looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing on God and jesus Christ
What do you think this means?
Paul is telling Titus about the anticipated return of Jesus Christ.
Everyday that we live as Christians is in hope that jesus Christ returns and redeems us.
Paul wanted that to be a focus that Titus lived by as he taught the people at crete.
They needed to be excited but also see the urgency of Jesus’s return.
The same goes today, he could return at any time and we need to be urgent in our efforts.
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
I want to challenge you this morning.
I want you to explain to me why Jesus ever came to earth.
Couldn’t he have done all that he did from heaven.
Why did Jesus come to the earth if could have done all that he did from heaven?
jesus Christ came to this earth instead of doing it the easy way because he needed to make a connection with us.
i can give you a few quick benefits of Jesus coming to earth.
He made a connection as the first sinless man.
He caused an uproar, which made him a household name.
He showed us how to live and how to worship.
The most importantly he eliminated the law.
The previous law as we have said earlier was to come to the tabernacle with your perfect spotless lamb.
and to offer a burnt sacrifice for your forgiveness.
jesus eliminated this law and gave us a way to seek forgiveness on the spot.
we can not enter the “tabernacle” whenever we want.
So, as you hopefully can see Jesus came to earth for many reasons.
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
So lastly, Paul wants Titus to speak the truth that jesus died on the cross to redeem and have a personal relationship with us.
He wants Titus to share that their is a reason behind Christ’s law and discipline.
So for a moment before we close just to help us envision this a little better
