Romans 12:2 NKJV
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God!
Intro:
As a believer we are not to be conformed to this world.
The word conformed comes from the root word schema which means fashion,
or the outward form,
or the appearance of a man.
It is the appearance of a person that changes from day to day and year to year.
A person may dress differently for work than they do for an evening out.
A manor woman looks different as a young manor woman than he or she does as an older man or woman.
Their schema, their fashion, their outward appearance will change - will differ
Now the word World in the scripture in the simplest of terms means the world itself and everything in it, because it is all corruptible.
See this world, including the heavens and earth and all that is in it , is aging, it is deteriorating it is dying; and it will pass away.
This world is not perfect: not in being,
This World is not perfect in it’s order,
This world is not perfect in morality
This world is not perfect in justice
That’s why as a believer we are not to be conformed to this world
The Deceit is that this world appears that it will last forever
It appears that this world is permanent
It appears that this world seems to offer the very best of everything
It appears that this world is full of pleasure
It appears this world is full of enjoyment
It appears this world is full of happiness
It appears this world is full of satisfaction
It appears this world is full of completeness
But the truth of the matter is that the appearance of this world is just a lie,
It’s like a mask covering something hideous
It’s like a masquerade
Today, even the very spirit of this world has within it the seed of corruption.
Look at the world - you find that seed of corruption, because there is so much
selfishness•
greed•
anger•
hatred•
bitterness•
ungodliness•
division•
war•
deceitfulness•
suffering•
conflict•
ignorance•
deterioration•
death•
sickness•
disease•
cursing•
pride•
disorder•
decay

The world itself and everything in it shall pass away.

1 Corinthians 7:31 NLT
31 Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away.
Warning- as believer’s we cannot conform, or posture ourselves after the world or the things of the world!
2 Corinthians 6:17–18 NLT
17 Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. 18 And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
Even when it looks good and we think it may feel good we cannot lust after the things of the world
1 John 2:15–16 NKJV
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

Transformed Mind

look at the person closes to you and say Transformed
That Greek word for transformed has a root word and the root word is morph
In the Greek Morphe means the real being of a person.
It is the very nature and essence, or the inseparable part, or the unchanging shape of a person.
Example if you go out on a nice date in the evening your clothes may look different than your work clothes, but you are still the same person inwardly!
An elderly manor woman is the same person on the inside that they were as a young person.
What the Bible is saying is clearly is this as a believer we must undergo a radical change within our inner being in order to escape the world and its the sin associated with the world!
We must be transformed and changed inwardly.
Our real self—Our very nature, The essence of who we are
Our real personality,
Our inner being,
The person on the inside —must be changed.
Ok Pastor how do we achieve this?
The Bible declares as simply as can be stated, “by the renewing of your mind.”
Our minds are to be renewed That means means to be made new,
That means means to be readjusted,
That means means to be changed,
That means means to be turned around,
That means means to be regenerated.
Affected By Sin
The mind of any human has been affected by sin.
Because of the sin we’ve committed, the sin we’ve seen, the sin we have heard of the sin we have tasted, the sin we have shared
requires our minds to be renewed.
This powerful computer - the mind is far from perfect.
Can I keep this real?
It is basically worldly,
What do I mean - If we are honest and transparent with ourselves we can say that we all are challenged with
Being selfish - that’s sin
Being self-centered• - that’s sin
Focused on the world and the things of the world - that’s sin
We are self-seeking - than’s sin
Focused on satisfying the flesh - that’s sin •
Stay with me - the bible is clear about the corruption of the human mind.
Ya’ll our minds are full of vanity, and the wildest imaginations you can think of!
Romans 1:21 NLT
21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.
Romans 1:28 NCV
28 People did not think it was important to have a true knowledge of God. So God left them and allowed them to have their own worthless thinking and to do things they should not do.
Romans 8:7 NLT
7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will.
If that’s not enough our mind have become blinded by Satan to the point we struggle with the bible, we struggle understanding the bible, we struggle obeying the bible and we struggle believing the Good News Of Jesus Christ !
2 Corinthians 4:4 NLT
4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
But then God hit me with these two scriptures - and I must share it with you
Ephesians 4:17 NLT
17 With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.
Philippians 3:18–19 NLT
18 For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.

Be Transformed

The mind is renewed by the presence and the image of Jesus Christ in tour lives
This is a fight for whats real even when our mind or the minds of others are trying to tell us something different!
Renew Your Mind
Remember you are born again
Jn.3:3 When a person receives the Lord Jesus Christ as His Lord, the man is spiritually …
1 Peter 1:23 NLT
23 For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.
Remember you are a new person
Ephesians 4:24 NCV
24 to become a new person. That new person is made to be like God—made to be truly good and holy.
Remember you are a new creation:
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Remember you have the mind of Christ Jesus
1 Corinthians 2:16 NCV
16 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Who has been able to teach him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Remember you have changed into the image of Jesus Christ
2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT
18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
Remember what this means:
Today - no matter what you have done before
Today - no matter what troubles you may have
Today no matter what your current situations is
Today no matter how bad they have talked about you
Today no matter how many times people have disappointed you or you have disappointed yourself
When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour into your life you receive the mind of Jesus Christ
And You receive the image of Jesus Christ as well.
Jesus places His mind into your mind as a believer changes our minds to focus upon God.
Then he stamps His image on us.
Now my mind is centered on spiritual things - It use to be on the world! matter of fact - now I struggle when I try to focus only on worldly things!
I don’t see it Pastor - but you don’t see the wind but you know it’s real! The word of God is the same !
Your mind and image are renewed,
Your mind and image has been changed,
Your mind and image has been turned around,
Your mind and image has been and transformed to focus on God.
Next week we will look at how to live out this Transformed Life
