JUST COME
JUST COME
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
COME - is a verb. An active choice to slow down, stop and incline your heart. It is a choice, you get.
Artie & Flo coming into my room..no inhibitions, no thought of rejection, just came in
14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
In what ways do we complicate this?
Revealed to babes
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. 26 Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.
35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
1 “Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. 2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. 3 Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you— The sure mercies of David.
Come - is simple, how do I percieve this?
CHRISTIANITY IS NOT
ABOUT OUR DISCIPLINED
PURSUIT OF GOD. BUT
ABOUT GOD'S RELENTLESS
PURSUIT OF US.- Peter Scazzero
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
2. TO ME - there are so many things we can go to.
Jesus is the way to rest.
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
The world beacons in thousands of differnt ways, but there is only one way.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Sometimes it’s not that Jesus isnt available, but He isn’t the sort of gate that we want.
If our mind and our heart are out of step with Jesus, everything becomes difficult to bear.
3. ALL WHO ARE WEARY & CARRY HEAVY BURDENS
Jesus is available to all
What is heavy in your life right now?
2 saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. 4 For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
How have we learned in the wrong way, about how to please God?
We have to be careful we are not creating unnecessary burdens for ourselves
22 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
4. I WILL GIVE REST
There is a rest in Jesus
This is how people who have been through intense trouble, persection & heartache can say its all been worth it.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
5. YOKE YOURSELF TO JESUS
Yoke yourself to Jesus and learn from Him - our servant King, lowly, gentle and meek
Dwight Pentecost ( Design for Discipleship) - There was an old farmer plowing with a team of oxen. As I saw this team I was somewhat amazed, for one was a huge ox and the other a very small bullock. That ox towered over the little bullock that was sharing the work with him. I was amazed and perplexed to see a farmer trying to plow with two such unequal animals in the yoke and commented on the inequality to the man with whom I was riding. He stopped his car and said, ‘I want you to notice something. See the way those traces are hooked to the yoke? You will observe that the large ox is pulling all the weight. That little bullock is being broken into the yoke but he is not actually pulling any weight.’ My mind instinctively came to this passage of Scripture where our Lord said, “Take my yoke upon you, learn of me; for I am …” In the normal yoking the load is equally distributed between the two that are yoked together, but when we are yoked with Jesus Christ, He bears the load and we who are yoked to Him share in the joy and the accomplishment of the labor but without the burden of the yoke.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
The victory that overcomes the world is our faith!
If you are feeling heavy & burdened, maybe you have yoked yourself to the wrong things?
