Introduction

Man’s rebellion had reached a point where God’s Spirit has “had enough”
These terms shows that God looks at man in a special way.
Man has populated the earth but not many have sought God, in the midst of all that’s going on “Will You Be Faithful?”

The Text

God’s Heart - Gen 6:6

The Heb. word “naham” (vs. 6) means to “be in a state of sorrow or regret over a person or event”
God was ‘grieved’ meaning that he was “filled with sorrow or emotional distress” - This is because of Gen 6:5 “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Man has a special place in God’s heart
Even though man occupies God’s heart He still desires obedience
God’s love for man[His people] is unmistakable 1 Jn 4:19 “We love, because He first loved us.” Rom 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Zeph 3:17 ““The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.” Isa 54:10 ““For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,” Says the Lord who has compassion on you.”
Will you be faithful? Knowing the heart of God

God’s Judgement - Gen 6:7

God’s love/grace/goodness does not displace His judgement
Sometimes we display imbalances in our attributes, But not God.
This judgement highlights the Long-suffering of God 1 Pet 3:20 “who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.”
