The Pre-incarnate 2nd person of the Trinity. He is the Logos, the thought and intent of God the Father in action.

The Word Creates, the Word Declares vv.2, 18

The Light Illuminates. He reveals the Truth of God. He reveals the grace of God. vv. 9-14

John the Baptist is from a priestly order. He recognizes Jesus as the sacrificial Lamb of God.

He removes the sin of the world.

John also recognized the deity of Christ. The Son of God.

The Christ - the anointed One. The One appointed by the Father. He is the fulfillment of prophecy and the long awaited Deliverer!

His right to reign upon David’s Throne. He is the True King!

His identification with the human race as Mediator between God and man.
