Loving God With
My All
Genesis 1:26-31; 2:15
February 10, 2019
§ You can give without loving but you can’t love without giving.
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind.
Matthew 22:37 (ESV)
stew·ard·ship (stü-ərd–ship)
def: Carefully and responsibly managing something owned by another
but entrusted to one’s care.
Genesis 1:26-31; 2:15
THE BIG IDEA: The greatest single act of obedience is to love God with
my all – heart, soul, mind.
Heart, soul, and mind loving encompasses all we
are and all we have.
Jesus teaches us that loving God in this way is the
fulfillment of our reason for existence.
1. God is the Creator and Source of Everything
Romans 11:36 – “For from him and through him and to him are all
things.
To him be glory forever.
Amen.
2. God is the Owner of Everything
Psalm 50:10 (ESV) For every beast of the forest is mine, The
cattle on a thousand hills.
The Stewardship Confession: “You are God and I am not.
God, you
own everything, including me.”
3. God Made You in His Image & Gave You an Awesome Job
Genesis 1:26-31
Genesis 2:15
Matthew 15:14-30
4. One Day, God Will Call Me to Account for What I Did With All He
Entrusted to Me
1 Corinthians 3:13–14 (ESV).
13 each one’s work will become manifest,
for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the
fire will test what sort of work each one has done.
14 If the work that
anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward.
James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of lights…”
Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof,
The world and those who dwell therein.
Implications:
• Since God is creator, then everything owes its existence to
God and is owned by God.
• Nothing exists apart from His decree or His sustaining power;
everything is dependent upon God.
[Colossians 1:16-17]
• As creator, God has the right to establish the boundaries,
limitations, and morality of life.
• God has embedded creation – even after the presence of sin
– with a goodness that says something about Him.
5.
In the Meantime, I Choose to Treasure Christ Above All His Creation
"And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in
glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).
STEWARDSHIP is maximizing God’s blessings
for His glory!
