PEOPLE HAVE THEIR OWN BIBLE: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ever to them is what makes up their bible.

Dead men do bleed.

None of us believe in a vacuum. We cnnot beleive one thing without believing in antother. This man believed that
AT the highest level:
1. He was dead. This was his primary belief.
At a slightly lower level
2. The man beleived That dead men do bleed.
When showed that he bleeds, he realizes that dead men do bleed.
THE POINT is that people have a real belief that is the most important belief to them and even if they are presented with evidence contrary to their PRIMARY belief that they will simply fit whatever evidence given to them into their PRIMARY belief.
Like in thew case of this man…he really beieved he was dead…even when shown that he bleeds.
What does this mean for the Christian who wants to share their faith? This PRIMARY BELIEF problem means that even when you present the truth of God’s word with someone they might reject it, not becasue the argument you gave them is invalid, but simply becasue they have a PRIMARY BELIEF that was not made to be foolish.
Luke 16:19-31 ““There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cros…”
Psalm 1 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”
APOLOGETICS greek: apologia, NOT MOST CANDADIAN VERSE EVER-----DEFENSE
Acts 22:1 ““Brothers and fathers, hear the defense that I now make before you.””
Acts 25:16 “I answered them that it was not the custom of the Romans to give up anyone before the accused met the accusers face to face and had opportunity to make his defense concerning the charge laid against him.”
1 Corinthians 9:3 “This is my defense to those who would examine me.”
Philippians 1:7 “It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.”
TELL ABOUT THE JESUS YOU PRAY TO, WHO HAS SAVED YOU
1 Peter 3:14-16 “But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.”
Isaiah 8:12-15 ““Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. But the Lord of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And many shall stumble on it. They shall fall and be broken; they shall be snared and taken.””
2. TRUST GOD NOT YOUR CLEVERNESS
How do you defend a lion? Let the lion out of the cage.
Why not use your all-important mind and amazingness to persuade someone?
You are not that clever, this is too important to rely on personalities and persuavive abilities. You are not selling them a car…you are sharing the gospel of the ONE TRUE GOD.
John 17:7-8 “Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.” “Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you.”
Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Romans 3:3-4 “What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written, “That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.””
SUPERNATURAL BIRTH REQUIRES SUPERNATURAL GOD
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”
TRUST JESUS- THE GOOD SHEPHERD TO CALL HIS SHEEP HOME
John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
SHARE THE WORD OF GOD
NOT YOUR CLEVERNESS
AND JESUS WILL HAVE HIS SHEEP FOLLOW
