Faith VS Fear

Mark 4:35–41 NKJV

35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

Intro:

We can live our lives in fear or in faith.

Covid has caused more fear then anything I never seen. Not saying it not real (Pastor Paul).

There many things that brings fear. Money, (not having enough brings fear) fear of sickness, fear of death, cancer, fear sharing Jesus) etc…

Fear Not (Not 365 times)

King James Version: 74 – fear not; 29 – be not afraid

We see examples being told to fear, be not afraid, be not anxious through out the Bible.

Joshua 1:9 NKJV

9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

We see though out the Bible, Faith VS Fear.

David had faith when everyone else had fear to face Goliath.

When will look today, where there fear when there should have been faith.

Fear wins when we don’t listen to the Lord. VS 35-36

Jesus is gong to go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. (8 miles)

“ Let us cross over to the other side other side” Not try, .....

This was the disciples should have heard.

God speaks to us through His word. Reading, preaching, through waking you up.....

Through out His word, “fear not”

If the devil can bring fear into our lives, we will not be able to focus on what Gods plan is for us (other side)

You have the opportunity to tell someone about how Jesus can sell them. FEAR.

God has called you to do something. FEAR.

Philippians 4:13 NKJV

13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Psalm 59:17 NKJV

17 To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; For God is my defense, My God of mercy.

When you are fearful, Pray this verse. “God be my strength”

Fear wins when we don’t trust the Lord. VS 37

Mark 4:37 NKJV

37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.

Storms would be out fast. Elab the mountains, sea level. This caused fear for the disciples that had heard Jesus say “lets pass over to the other side”

Storms of life come at us fast, and they cause fear.

Sickness, covid, cancer,

$

Job

Family.

We have to trust God in all matters of our lives. Fear will hinder this.

Disciples, boat filling with water. What should they have done? Prayed.

But they were fearful. They thought they were going to sink and die.

have you ever felt like your situations was to the point that you had no why out? Like your boat is sinking?

Psalm 141:1 NKJV

1 Lord, I cry out to You; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You.

Psalm 28:2 NKJV

2 Hear the voice of my supplications When I cry to You, When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.

Psalm 102:1 NKJV

1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, And let my cry come to You.

Faith wins when we call on the Lord. VS 38-40

Mark 4:38–40 NKJV

38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

Elab the disciples waking up Jesus.

When fear sits in you may feel like the Lord is not aware, like He a asleep.

Look at what they say to Jesus, they are saying. “Don’t you care”

Jesus doesn't respond with words. He responds with actions. VS 39

VS 39

Fear became clam. Its wasn’t their faith, but they did call out to Jesus.

It was His power.

VS 40.

“No faith”

Faith wins when you realize the Lords Power. VS 4:41-4:1

Mark 4:41 NKJV

41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

But, the would still have time of no or little faith.

All of us have the power of God in our lives during fearful times. Why fear?

Deuteronomy 31:8 NKJV

8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
