MP: Jesus came to fulfill the promises of Isaiah

Remember last week we learned that Jesus came to proclaim the good news to the poor, liberty to the captives, recover sight to the blind, help the oppressed and proclaim the year of the Lords favor. Then he was driven out of the town of Nazareth because the people there didn't believe. . Luke spends the next 68 verses showing a couple of different things for his reader. We could spend a lot of time breaking these individual sections down but I want to show this evening how Jesus fulfills in such a small span of time Isaiah and how the reaction is from those around him.
Three things to follow throughout this section.
Jesus has Authority concerning spiritual and humanity 4:31-5:32
First, The response of the people were of astonishment at the sayings of Jesus
4:32, 36,
Second the response of the demons.
They knew who Jesus was.
4:34, 41,
Third the authority of Jesus.
verse 36, “For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.
Jesus spoke to his disciples and they dropped everything to follow Jesus
Jesus has authority to heal, cast out demons and cause people to change.
There are two things that I want us to focus on here that is important in regards to 4:18-19.
In verse 4:43 Jesus says, I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well: for I was sent for this purpose.
Second, 5:32 “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
Lastly, 5:32-6:16
Jesus has authority over the sabbath
Jesus finally
