Not This - But This

Recap the three Temptations

Will not use His power for His own gain. He is a steward of God’s will.
Will not take the path of least resistance. The end will not justify the means.
Will not glorify Himself. He will wait on God and His timing.

The Isaiah 61 prophecy fulfilled.

Will restore sight to the blind.
Will set free those in captivity.
Will proclaim good news to the poor - the Year of the Lord’s favor.

The Year of Jubilee.

Luke 4:19 ESV
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Leviticus 25:10 ESV
And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his clan.
7 cycles of the 7th year (Sabbatical year) culminates in the year of Jubilee.
Return of the Inheritance, The Land rests fallow, indentured servants released to their inheritance.

Jesus is the plenipotentiary of the Jubilee

Thus says the Lord: “In a time of favor I have answered you; in a day of salvation I have helped you; I will keep you and give you as a covenant to the people, to establish the land, to apportion the desolate heritages,

Why only some are released from their captivity?
