Truth / Lies: Main Point God is the only source of objective truth.

ME:

My name is Max, have the pleasure of doing ministry here in Lawrence with Called to Greatness.

True is defined as: in accordance with fact or reality.

Lie is to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive, or to create a false or misleading impression.

And before we get any further one thing I want to make known is while I am here to tell you the truth, I would much rather you learn where to find it. Teaching you not what to think but how to. So I’m going to spoil my main point here and now . The only source of objective truth is God’s word.

Sometimes lies seem easier to handle than the truth.

Example of Cypher from the Matrix. (If you didn’t notice Truth is being attacked right now). It’s hard to know whats true, even more so people are defining their own truth.

So I don’t like being lied to. Not a huge fan. Secret Hitler example. The main tools of the nazi’s is lying and deceit. (You don’t know you’re being lied to only the person who is lying knows). When we step out of the game we think people are no longer lying to us… but Satan’s got the same main tools, lying and deceit.

2. Story of Joshua. (Numbers 13, the book of Joshua) How standing for truth can be difficult but Joshua was rooted in God’s word. Which is what we have to do in order to know the truth.

YOU:

Why do I say that? Well God’s word is pretty clear John 14:6

Then Jesus said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you continue in my word you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

The word here for truth is reality. Being a disciple is someone who is a learner of truth.

Hebrews 3:13 LEB

But encourage one another day by day, as long as it is called “today,” so that none of you become hardened by the deception of sin.

Call to action: What does this look like? Know God’s truth and stand on it. Stand for truth in this day and age.
