His Love is Extensive

We see here just how extensive the Love of God is…God so loved the WORLD.
Not some of the world. Not most of the world or part of the world or a certain group of people in the world. The world!
The word used here for world has the meaning of a place in need of God’s saving grace. I’m sure you and I can agree that our world is a place that needs God’s saving grace, yes?
This might seem very obvious to us that God loves the whole world, but not for the Jewish people. They knew that God loved but they didn’t think in terms of God loving the entire world. Most thought that God only loved Israel.
Maybe you have been tempted to think that God doesn’t love the whole world. Maybe you have been tempted to think that God doesn’t love you?
Romans 5:8 ESV
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God’s love for you has been proven in this definite act - he sent his Son to die for you, even in your sin.
God does not say, “You know Darrel, if you will just clean up your act and stop sinning, I will love you.” He loves us as we are.
He loves you as you are - but that doesn’t mean he leaves you that way.
The Love of God for you and for the world is totally unconditional. You have no doubt experienced conditional love, but God invites you to know his unconditional love.
John 17:3 ESV
And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

His Love is Expensive

Illustration: In the city of Agra, India stands one of the great wonders of the World, an Ivory white mausoleum built of marble called the Taj Mahal. It was a tribute commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in the year 1631 to honor his much-beloved late wife, Mumta Mahal who died after giving birth to their 14th child. The entire project including the buildings and gardens took over 10 years to complete through the efforts of 22,000 laborers and over 1000 elephants that were used to transport materials. These materials were transported from all over India and Asia. If it were built today, the cost would be around $70 Billion (With a B).
Some might say that this wonder of the world is one of the most expensive gifts ever given out of love. I would say otherwise.
God is the one who gave the most expensive gift ever - his one and only Son! Priceless!
John 15:13 ESV
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
