FOCUS
While we can’t see someone’s physical brain (apart from the technology that can scan, capture & reproduce the image), we can see what’s going on in their mind by watching what they do & don’t do, listening to what they say & don’t say, & observing how they live.
Eventually what’s on the inside makes it to the outside.
When the squeeze is on, the container’s content comes out :-) …
With you I want to know what God says about anything He says anything about.
Today we’re wrestling with what it looks like & what it means to have & keep a mind that’s renewed.
The call from Paul in Romans 12:2 to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind” follows him first saying “don not conform to the pattern of this world.”
(NIV) Another translation renders it this way: “Don’t live the way this world lives.
Let your way of thinking be completely changed.”
(NIRV)
Keeping your mind renewed happens not by chance, but by choice.
As Believers Our Minds Must Be …
1. regularly renewed to keep us from conforming to the ways of the world.
A renewed mind results in a refreshed, refocused & reinvigorated mind.
Romans 12:1-2 & 21 / Ephesians 4:22-24 (James 1:27)
2. set on the Spirit’s desires & committed to thinking only right thoughts.
Like an oven’s temperature setting, our minds must be set to “the Spirit’s desires.”
Romans 8:5-7 (2 Corinthians 10:5 & Philippians 4:8)
Making It Real
1] Do you hear the imperative & see the importance of keeping your mind renewed?
2] What different choices do you need to make in light of this?
Action Step
Memorize Romans 12:1-2.
Say it out loud a couple times every day this week.
