Why do liberal churches avoid doctrine?

Their leadership does not know how to preach and teach difficult subjects.

Their leadership does not stand on theBible as the final authority.

The membership does not want to hear clear Bible messages.

The membership does not want to hear where they know they don’t live what Scripture says.

Let’s set in on some question and answer sessions.

I. The First Set of Questions and Answers.

The Question of Divorce. V.1-2

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THOSE WHO LOVE JESUS AND THOSE WHO DON’T:

Those that love Him follow Him. v.1

1 And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

Those that don’t come to Him questioning Him, like these Pharisees in v.2

2 And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

HERE IS AN ODD THING: THAT PEOPLE WANT TO FIND OUT HOW TO BE DIVORCED RATHER THAN HOW TO STAY MARRIED.

The Answer of Creation. Vs.4-6

THE INSTITUTOR OF MARRIAGE. Vs.6-8

6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

THE INSTITUTION OF MARRIAGE. VS.5-6

9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

II. The Second Set of Questions and Answers.

The Question of Disciples. V.10

10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.

Was the answer in public clear?

Were they expecting a different answer?

The Answer of Christ. Vs.11-12

Concerning the men. V.11

11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

III. The Third Set of Questions and Answers.

The Question of Interpretation. V.3

3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

IV. The Fourth Set of Questions and Answers.

The Question of Fornication.

Matthew 19:10-12

The Answer Is Forgiveness.

The Bible clearly lists three grounds of divorce: no more and no less.

DEATH: This is abundantly clear to all in Romans 7:1–4; 1 Corinthians 7:39.

FORNICATION: This is clear to 75 percent in Matthew 19:9; 1 Corinthians 6:16.

DESERTION: This is clear to about 20 percent in 1 Corinthians 7:15. In this case the unbeliever deserts the believer, and the believer is said to be “not under bondage” (cf. 1 Cor. 7:27) in the context.

Conclusion:

The difference in a divorce and remaining married is these:

A husband that stops saying and thinking divorce.

A wife that stops saying and thinking divorce.

The Lord Jesus Christ.
