What Is Driving You Crazy?

The Gerasene Demoniac, Mark 5:1-20.

I. He was unsaved. He was possessed with the devil, vs. 2.

Christ leads us. Satan drives us.

Ephesians 2, And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Ephesians 6, 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

II. His purpose now: Mark 5, 19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

III. What made him crazy?

1) Bad lifestyle, v. 2.

2) Bad company, v. 4.

3) Self-harm, v. 5.

IV. Reasonable service: We do not have a reason not to live for Christ.

Romans 12, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

V. Through Jesus: Romans 7, 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
