Part 2 of Supernatural Lifestyle
humor
Intro
Last week I started this new series without even knowing it!
there is so much id like to say of the topic it evolved into its ouwn series.
I’m calling this series Supernatural Lifestyle.
One of the biggest changes God wants to do in His church is to change the way we think.
Instead of relying on our own limited human capacity to understand, God want us to think the way He does.
Without limits!
God is suprnatual.......all agree
We are a natural creation.....right?
like the trees, animals, mountains.
People are natural
Well that’s not completely true
God created the natural world.
and we are part of it.
We have a physical/natural body.
But we are made up of Body Soul and Spirit.
1 thess 5:23
We are tripart beings.
Body Soul and Spirit
Our bodies are natural
Our body exists in and contacts the tangible things of the material world using our five physical senses.
The body is the visible, external part of our being, and it contains the soul.
Our soul/mind perceives things in the psychological realm.
In fact, in Greek—the original language of the New Testament—the word for soul is psuche, which is also the root word of psychology.
Our soul/mind is our personality, who we are.
With our soul we think, reason, consider, remember, and wonder.
We experience emotions like happiness, love, sorrow, anger, relief, and compassion.
And we’re able to resolve, choose, and make decisions.
Our Souls are a combination of natural and supernatural.
Yes you have a brain that thinks and reason.
but you can also dream of future events.
thats not natural
but our spirits are supernatural!
The human spirit is the deepest part of a person.
By means of this innermost part, we can contact God in the spiritual realm.
No other creature was created by God with this third part.
For the believer this is our makeup
but for the prebeliever this is sadly not the case
You see when we are physically birthday
Our body and soul are made alive.
but our spirit is dead because of sin!
Newness of Life
refers to our spirit coming to life
In the human spirit, God as Spirit dwells;
in the soul, our self dwells
in the body, the physical senses dwell.
When we seek and accept God’s forgiveness for our sins
God sanctifies us,
first, by taking possession of our spirit through regeneration
second, by spreading Himself as the life-giving Spirit from our spirit into our soul to saturate and transform our soul
Third, by enlivening our mortal body through our soul
and transfiguring our body by His life power
All this to say we are more supernatural than natural.
Maybe we should act like it!
Body
Jesus said.
some theologians water this down by stating as the corporate Church we can do more than Jesus .....
but Jesus said “He” not “They” referring to the individual not the group!
I believe God wants to awaken us to do what Jesus did and more!
Who is the helper?
Holy Spirit
Every Miracle Jesus did he did through the Power of the Holy Spirit
Yes Jesus was fully God and Fully Man
Fully God
Fully Man
How did this work?
Jesus laid aside the operation of His diety so he could be one of us!
“made in the likeness of men.” literally means being like one of us!
I hate to break it to you but you are not God, and you will never become God
but you do have God living in you!
Jesus was one of us!
Why did Jesus do it this way?
Not only as Heb 4:15 says so He could “sympathize with our weaknesses”
Its not like He could relate to us as humans if He walked around as God all the time!
but also demonstrate how we as mere humans could operate while we are here on earth.
Jesus demonstrated the supernatural lifestyle so we could emulate Him
So what did Jesus Do?
How did he exemplify the supernatural lifestyle?
But here are a few....
Miracles of Jesus
Def Miracle
when the Supernatural invades the natural!
1. Jesus changed water into wine (John 2:1-11).
On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee.
Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.
When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
“Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied.
“My hour has not yet come.”
His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.
Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”They
did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.
He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.
Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
2. Jesus cured the nobleman's son (John 4:46-47).
Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine.
