Jeremiah’s Call & Our Calling

Has God put words in our mouths? Will we share them?
Calling: not just for ministers, for allof us who follow Jesus
Doesn’t amtter if you’re 18 or 80
We’re not all called to be Jeremiah, but we’re all called.
And there is an echo of our call in Jeremiah’s call.
Call to be servants of Truth

The Spiritual and the Mundane

We tend to separate out the truth.
When we say that Jeremiah had God’s words of truth placed in his mouth we think they must be spiritual truths alone.
But the truth is a whole cloth.
This whole world is God’s, not just the spiritual stuff
It’s important that we hold to the truth, both spiritual and mundane
Truth is a contested thing
Litmus test of truth
God’s truth reflects God’s love
Is it founded on fear or on love?

Noisy Gongs

The Truth we bring is only as good as how we use it.
“Those who think they have gained everything by standing on principle, by dominating others, or by being right, have lost it all.” - Lewis F. Galloway

We know in part

Acknowledge that we don’t have it all togther. I don’t have all the answers
Not insecurity or doubt, but humility and love
Trusting that one day God’s Truth of love will prevail - this is hope, this is faith

Love Remains

Trutsting that God’s truth is at one with God’s love
All of the truths that we hold on our lips revolve around one central truth:
God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that all who believe in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
What are we being called to give for our world in this present time?
