Out Reach : Training
This might go sit down and let you guys share who has their testing minutes.
I know there's no hands going up. Oh gosh.
No one has it. Kind of hook them to your hats.
Okay.
It is you need to be reminded. What a testament it is. It is simple it is one minute before Christ one minute of how you chose Skies. Now, you follow him and one minute of your life sense and it doesn't have to be a full minute. I want to give you guys free of these are just guidelines, but these aren't set rules. You know what I mean? But you want to keep it short and sweet because when you meet people got may want you to use that. Okay, who wants to go first
Kwispy, the Icebreaker I even got some gum.
Okay. symbols of military
Morning brothers and sisters. My name is Jim. and
I grew up in a very bad in poor environment.
I learned that because I was ready to race somewhat as a smaller child is Catholic that Jesus is always watching you. And it would take care of you if you weren't good. So I put them on the burners through them all that aside and accept what God. Cuz I know he was a good one. He was the main one. End up doing that. I made him my buddy.
My dad was bad. My mom divorced him at the age of six when I was six. He killed himself when I was 10.
So I didn't like my last name. I didn't trust anybody. I definitely went on in. Examine everything and every person. most of my life including my beautiful lady was in the other room.
I wasn't going to let anything. Interrupt my way of life because of what I saw when I was young. then
when I was I'm trying to think of the age while back about 1996.
my beautiful lady
had a double dissection in her arteries up here. copperhead
the hospital didn't know what they were going to do. She was losing speech. She was losing motion. She had Strokes.
They told me she may not live through all this cuz they never really got up that high. You can't go through the skull. You have to try to go through the arteries to repair these things and and you think go to the neck Wu-Tang. Highway I felt all the sudden my buddy. Was going to let me down. He was taking my life away from me. I was very angry.
And I remember being in that waiting room floor. And talking to you. Getting more and more Angry as I talked.
And I wish people in there.
But I didn't care. I want to know why you were taking my lady for me why you were ruining my life?
well I started banging on the walls and demanding that I hear Y and answer and it was then when he says.
Listen to me.
You listen to me. Get with the program.
I brought my arms down off the wall.
And I just stood there a second and he goes he says.
It's not about her. It's about you.
That was a big blow from my buddy.
My buddy was letting me down and he was. Just telling me. Basically all you been doing all of these of your life with me what I'm counting, you know didn't count. I was expecting more.
And then he says this is if the first one wasn't hard enough to swallow.
He says and another thing. I am not your buddy.
He said I heard this so plainly I am better than that. I am more than that.
And that's when Jesus popped in right away I am now I knew them worse cuz I already knew how Jesus fit into the picture As I Grew into my twenties and thirties and forties, but it was. I'm telling you. I accept the Cheese's at that moment and I will never forget that moment. He just lifted so much off of me. Especially the maintenance of my father and other events in my life the newness that I received at the moment. And was able to pray and thank him. For what's going on right now and bringing all this to light. It was it was awesome and I am
continuing to work with him and love on him. He's he's the main course of my life. He's my the main course of my health my wealth and everything. I love that. I love the Lord. Thank you so much.
Good enough. Okay, this is this work this week. It's fun. And as a family we grow together. What was one of the most interesting points about what Jim was saying? What part do you guys at?
Who said that?
yeah, there's like a definitive one day it was like
Yes, but it's not about her. It's about you and then get with the program.
Yes.
What about before Christ when you were hearing? What's the Dow?
So is it safe to say is it safe to say Jim being self-centered? Yeah.
When we listen to each other stories, I want you guys to think about the points of impact. Play when Jen told me that at Hoover Burgers. I'll be okay. I've like dude he does God does I called those Upper Cuts from God really make your gut. I'm not your buddy get with the program. What day of my life got told me. I was clear to me. He says I'm not in the pity party. So when you're done, I'll talk.
You know how you feel at that moment?
These are points of impact in our stories and we're going to highlight every person's point of impact for you. It's for you to remember that part where God spoke to you was an impact moment and people even around the room or like yeah get with the program you'd be surprised how sharing that with people who don't even know God would impact it because what you're doing is releasing. What God did for you?
Is there any other points that were interesting and are you guys at?
Okay, I know that was like 2 the movie trailer version of it.
Who's next?
Yes. I'll get to you in a moment though. I knew you were standing up here.
Hello, I'm Ellen and I was raised in a Christian home. So.
I went to church every Sunday. That's what we did and I was taught about Jesus and all but when I was 8 years old. I realized that.
Christ died for me and I had to make it personal my parents couldn't save me. and one night the Let me back. Then. We came to church Sunday nights and remember so clearly Pastor Ray mullet was preaching. and I realized that I needed to accept Christ as my savior. So when we got I got home I talk to my mother so Sunday night, and I asked her if she could play with me. And we went in the bathroom of all places because it was a place we could get away made a smaller home. And she helped me prayed with me and I asked Jesus into my heart.
So what changed since then?
My life, I don't have a I've always felt like I don't have a big testimony, you know, cuz I didn't give him a lot of stuff. But I'm I'm so thankful that I did that at an early age because it really didn't impact my teen years might I never wanted to get into anything that was Not good, you know that really didn't pack my all my life, but I've learned also. That every choice I've made in life God's been there and I've learned that he's so faithful. I mean the many things a loss of our daughter that he knows so many things God is faithful and I can I can attest to that Beyond I know that I know that he's faithful.
What were the points of impact for you guys already know what mine is? What was Sunday's stood out?
Yeah.
At the age of eight. I mean come on, that means you were so significant about the number 8. Actually means in the Bible new beginning.
when you said the number a I saw that I was like wow God how amazing you are in detail, but the other thing is that she got
Those others are washing their hands. Oh, yeah, you just lean over don't get even on the floor. Huh kneeling on the floor. Could you imagine lean over to one lady say, you know, I got saved in the bathroom.
bathroom Bandits for Jesus
your mother of all people when it was not what I heard nothing. How many people would that encourage you have children, or you are expected to have children and courage you that the life that you live can affect your children to such a way you could have went through but you went to Mom that's beautiful. And that is something that you'll have for the rest of your life. Yeah.
That's powerful another thing but was it was another thing after crack your head?
Oh, sorry, how even after she lost they lost a child. She could still say that God is faithful.
Do you know how impacting that is in conversations with people when you do look at God's faithful. I was just say that lightly. I'm not saying it because it's it's in the Bible. But I know he's faithful for myself. And then you share this is part of your testimony. What happened? How God took you through the signs that God did by buy a van or taxi. Yeah, I remember that. It's impacting. I'm telling your stories with Jesus.
Come on, come on. Come on.
Open contact with the night and I got an opportunity to just share again. Just two weeks ago with a lady, you know, she was going through some things with their children with health issues. And I said I understand what it's like to go through that with health issues and she asked me why and I said well, you know our daughter got cancer and unfortunately, she passed know she went from this life to the next and I said, I know that she's with God I said and I said, so I was able to say to her just like Katie did with Michelle. Did you believe in God and she said yes I do but I was able to share with her those things of how God was faithful and is faithful and share with her, you know, God opens doors, and he you know, Is is willing to and I sat and she said that is neat. She said I was encouraged by what you said. She said I am impressed by you or the strength of your faith. And I said it is only because of what Jesus did at the cross tomorrow is only because of what Jesus did that is why I can do that, you know, we have opportunities and in different ways like you said, you know, these aren't the rules of how we have to say it but it's you know, but we have to be willing to say it. Yes.
Let someone else go first, but you know another thing isn't it crazy how God use the place of pain? To bring his power. On the way to make a note of that. It's in a place of pain that we see is powered show up in a big way. He's big. Could you imagine his men banging on the hospital laws any other people in the waiting room? God you didn't hit me up to the top floor. But thank God it's the place of pain. Do you know that's a place that is Believers. We want to escape from we don't want to share that. What is the series I even though I was raised a Christian? Good here. beautiful
You know in in all of that losing a daughter and seeing God's faithfulness. God has blessed us so much because Katie is one of our daughters now and where she is if it wasn't for dad, you know. I just cuz I see the growth in Katy from when we she first came back. I mean we knew her as a child. She's our daughter's friend, but then Katie was out living her life, and we didn't see her, but I brought her back. So God had a plan all along. in our lives To bring kadian and he takes our testimony and it just keeps going with it. So Facebook, I look at testimonies as a gigantic run-on sentence. Eddie.
Okay. Who who?
Hi, my name is Cathy lasich. part 1
I was born and I won't go that far back, but I lived a fairly normal life in a quaint. Idyllic Town Chagrin Falls, so that way pretty normal family life good student.
We went to church like on Christmas and Easter.
I stopped going in my early teens because of a I guess a trauma.
I don't remember much it was at youth group Sunday School. And I'm the leader proceeded to encourage a girl to explain to the group why they didn't like me.
I don't remember what you said. I just remember walking out with my dad. I didn't go to church anymore. So. over the college
I was at Miami University Josh McDowell born again Christian stuff going on. Gal share with me Jesus plant a seed. I came home from the summer. I was reading in my Bible. I met my husband and then that kind of stopped I'm going with my husband with my husband, but Didn't really follow God Penny depth.
We got married in the Catholic Church what drew me to that specific church was? The guitar group. We were in Leary played the guitar what I found out later when I get my eyes could see better was that a lot of them were born again believers?
so we got married we bought a house and I was expecting her first child. Unfortunately when Justin was three or four months old, my mother took ill.
During the course of recovery her doctor somehow shared about Jesus Christ to her and she recovered in started going to church and like data one in a did a 180 her enthusiasm spread myself, my father. My husband my sister and brother-in-law all Quote came to the Lord. I felt a deeper purpose in being a mom a daughter and a wife since then we've had any children.
I've been able to homeschool most of them through High School. Our life has been peppered with some surgeries accidents Financial errors, excetera excetera yet. God has my family. Through lately. I lost my husband. To covid after being diagnosed with a form of leukemia. earlier that summer thankfully my children my sister bath this church and friends have supported me through this loss. I can testify that Jesus is my good shepherd leading me through this life. the end Sacramento
that was skirt.
nearest Sherry that part really heavy
you were younger you were as you screw. Yeah, and you said the youth pastor decided it was a good idea for this girl to share why she didn't like you and from that point you kind of disconnected. Yeah. Sherry that with people with super powerful and encourage you there You know, I meet people around us have church hurt. Have heard from from religion religion hurt.
Yeah, that isn't even in there but that just came this is something that you have to be so concrete on where it's robotic. It's to help get the water going, you know, those old-fashioned Wells, you know, I'm talking about you had to do what you have to do. You have to Prime that thing right A lot of times in our lives with God we have to Prime are well. Oh, wow, Kingdom moment teaching the priming of your well is what helps the water flow. And Jesus said there's rivers of water in you but sometimes we don't even know how to prime my well. This is helping prime your well, so what's flowing isn't even written there. Hey, hey, it's the spirit. That was impact folding for me. I have another point, but I want to give other people time to speak. What was impactful for you guys.
I'll wait if you
the point where her mom received Jesus as her Savior and how that affected the whole family and We can be.
A part of that for somebody else right? We can see that person saved and see their whole families.
Did your mom was at a doctors racing when she was sick and she went to the doctor and the doctor she had surgery.
Wow.
She took yours so that impacted two people just so you know that part of your story. Was there anything else?
I knew her mom and dad and it's you know, I didn't realize that part of your story that you were hurt in a youth group. Isn't it ironic or I think it's neat that God used her parents then as the youth pastors here. Wow, Katie Katie sat under that you know, and so it's amazing. It's amazing to me that I was as you were sharing that how that God brought that around and made them be ministers to use and it was right here in this church. I was able to see it happen, you know, but just I just thought that was really neat.
Oh wow. So it's like we're goddamn. Can I just put it like this God took your place of pain and gave your family a position of power their Authority.
And use them to plant sees another youth. I'm going to tell you guys this God wants to take the trauma in your life. That was so such a tragedy and he wants to turn it around to be a triumphant testimony. It's in it turning around. I'm using a lot of t words from comic books, you know, Batman palka bam, you know. I learned about that. So he wants to make it a place of Triumph.
Another point that stuck out to me one more point that I had.
it was
you were at a Catholic church with Larry. Mary was Catholic and you said but they were born again Catholics. That's what stood out to me. She noticed they weren't just Catholics, but they had a born-again thing to themselves which made a world of a difference. That was very and packed.
No, no, no, no.
I went there for you know, I'll 18 of my years I was saved when I was 19 and it wasn't through the Catholic church, but it wasn't until after that that I realized and talking to people that there's actually a few Christians are Catholics out there that are born again. So it's not even something that's taught in there. So that's a good witness to a Catholic to know that that is available to them.
I remember what I meant. I have some friends who are charismatic Catholics and do their 5. Are there coops I love them. They should I say it in with them?
So was there anyone else go ahead?
Are the part where you said that even after Larry passed how you're supported and I just see how strong you are. And you said how you're still being taken care of that really blessed me. Wow, yes. All those aspects of your story are are jumping points that can impact lives be sensitive to the spirit so he can lead you on what to say or when is sad? Who's who's who's next?
custom in it
I see two hands. I know now. If not, we're going to have you.
We're going to have Ubi. Go ahead to who we had we had. go ahead and go first and then did you go? Do you have a ride down? Okay, she's going first. Cuz I'll try to keep my script. When I was a teenager, my name is Lorraine Harmon. By the way, when I was a teenager, I was into all kinds of things. I shouldn't have been filthy language drinking smoking and promiscuity promiscuity. I found myself grasping for God but not knowing how to get closer to him in my frustration when I when I was frustrated.
a lot of it getting a lot of it came from
I knew there was more.
But I didn't know what it was. So I would as part of my dealing with frustration. I would take long runs it help me to cope one particular night of frustration at College. I went for a run late at night and I didn't come back for a long while my roommates friend found me in the hallway of my apartment. Are met me in the hallway of our apartment when I got back and told me. I need a Jesus. He just he was when he was very bold and he was just like you need Jesus. And so I accepted them that night. I'm like, that's what I need.
Took 19 years to figure my part Sue would be at this point. I knew Jesus was what I was missing and that I needed him. I found that when I confessed my sins to Jesus and accept him as my savior that all things were new and I had a clean slate to start from I felt brand new a new lease on life and was so happy. My part 3 would be the moment that moment changed the direction of my life a life. That was surely headed for lots of heartache and pain if not early death.
it created for me a moral compass where I I Look to please God and not myself he is always there for me. Through happy and hard times and will never fail fail me. I know that I can trust Jesus and then he loves me even when I find it hard to love myself.
Wow.
points of impact
say that again, and she was looking to find them or How many people are searching for something more? That's a springing point? You like dude. I used to feel like I was always looking don't you realize life can be better. I used to search for more. Who is another point of impact?
When she needed it be met her where she was.
The number to tell her she needed Jesus. Come on. What's impacting us? So it was bold enough just to say you need Jesus?
You probably heard it. You probably wouldn't have received it. If somebody had come with maybe a lot of explanation or you know, or the one he called the sport for the four spiritual laws, you know, where the Romans road. You needed you needed it directly to hear it that way and you know that that's what that's what the neat thing about how the Holy Spirit works at. Just like Kathy saying, you know. That isn't what I had written down, but that's how God you know, God will move us to if you will move us. We don't have to we don't have to stick to our script. Come on. Because God the holy spirit will move us in the way that he wants us to say it go for it. That is the Lord. I don't even have written down.
I have some stuff I was going to say I was going to keep it to myself.
He's leading you he's guiding you. Sometimes when we're trying to try to be so critical of making sure we have everything so right that we become. Controlling and no longer led by the spirit.
I'll see a different thing like you can talk to five different people and tell them your test a minute and they're going to see a different thing for each person. It's not cookie-cutter. That's right. Thank you.
Is it okay that we we we we were not a cookie-cutter Christianity group. Is that okay with everyone? Come on Spirit lead. And if they said what was your practicality were spiritually practical? Andrew bring it.
the newness do that.
She was made new. Okay, when she accepted Jesus Christ, she was made new we all made new the old is gone. And that newness isn't just for that day. It's for every day. You know every day open your eyes in the morning. Thank the Lord for that newness they can for that new day. Thank you for the new circumstances in the new victories. You're going to concur with him in that day to stay on it newness.
All right, I grew up in a Christian home. I was saved at 8 years old a chapel. I went to a Christian school, but my struggle early and my childhood was the
my Securus and salvation. I always was in the back of my mind that I would have something that I would do something I would do that would void that salvation. And that would keep me in fear that while I better not do it. You know what the Pampers going to fall in God's going to that's going to be the end. I'm going to hell even though I accepted Christ. So were some of that started the change was not till I was an adult. I took a missionary trip a couple missionary trips. One of them. That was a most impacting was to the Dominican Republic. I went with the group for my church. Yeah something about that. The ministry field really brings out Christ was where I experienced head on Miracles people just coming to Christ because of our boldness and honesty with sharing our lives with people. This is people that didn't speak English we had to go to translator, but we probably had a 20 or 30 people in the village except cries because of well here these people from America they are perfect to order struggles we deal with the same a lot of the same things they do. And on and on that same day, we were giving out food and New Testament Bibles and that's where I witnessed. Well before my very eyes the provision of God increasing because we were short New Testament Bible Seldon was specifically we knew we didn't have enough we're going to give out tracks and then all of a suddenly boom, it was like everything was Wheatley handout 49 bags of food 49 Bibles and we have no explanation as to how that happened. But this is amazing. All the people getting saved and getting the word of God in their hands all on the same day, even though we didn't have it. We didn't have a fire physical means so I wish I could say now everything is real smooth sailing. I've had a lot of struggles still with setbacks persistent sins doubting. I've had a lot of issues with down to help out his promises. Life things that I thought I was stepping into and I've had setbacks but I've had a great church family. Holy Spirit lead church family getting back into ham radio amateur radio. I found a good community of Fellowship of Christian man, Bible group a study group. I meet with every morning and they've been really involved me and statue want me to share that my test a minute on their website. So it'll be up there next week. So it's been great. The Lord hasn't let me go but I need to continue to follow me to connect with the body of Christ. That's the important thing to keep me straight. Amen, dude, okay. Are you doing my points that I want to get someone else a t t what was the point of impact for you guys? Let me see your hands so I can give you the mic to speak into it.
Do you know it was a point of impact for me? It was the number eight again.
You're 8 years old you get born again. You're 8 years old born again. Armor when I came back I was seven. You know why I wanted to come to Christ because everyone else around me had through speaking in tongues, and I wanted to do it too.
Really? Yeah, I just want to do it like you're doing the dishes. I want to do that.
And I just wanted the Holy Ghost.
Andrew are you at buddy? Are you ginger beer for now on?
Don't hurt me.
Dude, the part where you're like I struggled with doubt. as a Christian To say I struggle with doubt. You understand like we don't want to tell people that as Christians cuz we we think it's going to make his less. Holy. Has anyone in this room ever struggle with doubt?
Which brings it that was impactful for me? I struggled with doubt, but then you said I went on a missions trip. And we did what stepped out into Ministry. And God became real.
Can real I don't know what you would that stirred me. He said, you know we went. Why do we do a missions trip to do ministry to be intentional on doing Ministry? And that's where God showed out bad and you guys being intentional?
And all the sudden the miracle that's like in the Bible takes place in your life. You know, you guys are sure you counted it twice. But some way there was there was enough. Oh God.
What would it look like?
Since then he has that fellowship with Believers. That's so important. You know that we stay connected to stay are there in Anchorage?
What would it look like guys? If we would live like Rome Mission here.
Thank you. I'm all for going to missions trip of what would it look like if we would live like we're on mission right here in our backyard.
Would we see what God did when he only be the God and indoors or when he'd be the god in our lives? To wear outfits in those places because you see him move. You said you were heading out Bibles and people were coming to Christ.
That sounds like a good old-fashioned Revival to me, dude. Ride how many people 20?
death of the day
Do we live in the village?
The village of Middlefield in this place is located at Village of Burr and and sartin's already ours. They just don't know it yet.
What would it look like eyes?
This is why we're training right now. This is what we're getting this going. Because this is what it would look like if we say this summer, we're going to step out in faith.
Play date. I'm going to challenge you and lost the share your story with five people in one month.
At first it's so scary and some of you guys say tap. Can we just do one person and I will say yes.
So are you able can I just do an animal?
I know my cat heard the gospel a lot.
You look like you received Jesus Jesus you don't get your food.
Bill milk
Oh shoot that's not what you want to do it people absolutely.
But this guy's this is what we're going to do some more getting geared for this while we're training like we're going to have this day when we're in this is not about numbers and what you know, it's not about numbers like I caught in the numbers game. It's about you then I'm willing to step out twice a month. And it's not like we didn't want to do that.
Cuz when you do Live skit changed seeds gets owned. No. It is going to be the last one for this Sunday.
Thanks, Mom.
I just want to thank you all for your testimonies. I I really enjoy listening to every one of them and it always impacts me to hear testimonies. I guess when I was and where I was raised in the Amish, we didn't have any testimonies. We didn't know what a testimony was. We we had we had religion. We didn't I mean I I knew about God but I didn't know about the relationship. I thought being good was was going to get me to heaven and if I was bad, it would take me to hell like if there was like a line that invisible line. You tried to stay above that on the good part. If you get you know below that you will go to hell now you didn't really know where that line was that but that was a scary part. So it was all about heaven and hell and in and it wasn't about Christ cuz it was again about yourself to try to be somewhere else. But so I just want to send tap in my family for sharing the gospel with me. You had to be bold enough to help cuz even then
we can put up a wall of what we've learned and our experiences in life can you know hold us? So I just want to thank them to you for the true gospel so that I could believe and have my sins washed clean by the blood of the Lamb Jesus Christ and become Born Again into the kingdom of God. and uh And now I want to seek after. You know my master and know his plans that he has for me to be obedient and allow his holy spirit to shine. Brightly through me that other people may see him and be added to his kingdom and to pray for others as he has asked us to do until love. No and ask nothing in return and if I believe that he is my savior will I not believe all his words that he has written in the Bible will I not trust him with everything and will I not? Allow him to lead me. I believe he will give us what he can trust us with. So let's give him everything we have come on.
points of impact
to this is giving my car door for today. There was a a line that he had to stay above in order to have a relationship in order to go to heaven.
Yeah. It was when you said I thought if I could be good enough that that would give me the heaven and if I was bad, it would take me to help and I love that. You said it was still all about me and had nothing to do with Jesus.
That was powerful.
Cuz it doesn't exist. Maybe I'm just too. I don't know because I struggled with that whole idea of Being good enough to innocence not need Jesus. My friends kept witnessing to me coming to me and saying you need Jesus tell me about Jesus and I didn't understand that Jesus was I can about God but it didn't understand Jesus. I just thought he was a man, but in my mind it wasn't an invisible line. It was more like a scale like a fulcrum like a teeter totter actually nowadays. I actually picture of the Amish Teeter totters that you go buy all the time and I kept thinking about how good you have to be to tip the scale to be good enough for God and my friends kept hearing things like the wages of sin is death. And the gift of God is eternal life and and that we've all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and the end basically they were trying to tell me that once and that's all it takes and you you're not good enough for God and I couldn't accept that. and I struggled and struggled with it for a long time and Finally got convinced me that that invisible line doesn't exist and that the only righteousness is in Jesus. And I think that is something that whether you're Amish ex-amish whatever you are. That is something that we all struggle with is that our righteousness is only through Christ and that of our selves we cannot be good enough in my testament, which this is not what it is right now, but it might estimated.
Basically, I look back on my life and I can say that before I came to Christ. I was a Pharisee and the Pharisee basically Jesus didn't have anything good to say about the Pharisees because they were trying to be self-righteous and we have no righteous those outside of Christ. So if it anytime we think our goodness our works are going to get us to heaven or wrong with that invisible line is just doesn't exist.
Craig I love it. I love the analogy of the teeter totter. Are you do you know you have lead in that are you on life's teeter-totter? Like how many people feel like that even as Believers how many people feel like they're still on a teeter totter?
Yeah, I still struggle with that. Like am I good enough for God to encounter me for God to love me forgot to speak to me. Am I talking to myself or can you guys identify?
That is a trap of the devil. It is not by your good works. Not even mine.
I love that your friend just came at you with scripture. I think that's beautiful. He was like like you want to be good enough for the wages of sin is death. Well, I love it.
