As well. Continue in our studies, the Life of Christ course, that's going to be the study all year long. And also, for the Praise Jesus, that wonderful person who loves us and who came to this Earth being God. Almighty himself. Come down here, talk about himself, the form of a man of a servant and gave his life that we might live and have the hope of eternal life. And so, we're going to be talking about him and I hope and pray that her love for the Lord. Jesus Christ, a greater trust in him. A greater desire to live and to serve out the temptation of Christ. I found in Matthew, chapter 4, as was read by the young Kayden. Is he read Matthew 41 through 11 and we'll talk about that some walk this morning, but I want to say, it's almost as if they're saying, whoever wrote. This was the only one that's not so about 30 years old when he went into his ministry. I don't know any man or woman that has lived to be 30 years of age that has not faced Temptation from Satan, Jesus, face Temptation. He just never was he just never gave into it. He was sinless without seeing serving the lord God and so I understand it's that he faced temptation all the days of his life just like we're doing. But this is one Temptation that was recorded by inspiration. When Matthew, wasn't there Loop wasn't there? Mark wasn't there, John wasn't there, but yet Matthew and Mark and Luke Luke and Matthew, especially cover it, you know, step-by-step how the Satan himself tempted Jesus, while he was in the wilderness. Mark only has 2 versus he just says he was what up into the Wilderness and was tempted of the devil and that was about all he had to say about the temptation, but he did. What does Holy Spirit wanted him to write? But Matthew covered it quite well who covers it very well. And so you can read it at Luke chapter 4. Are you worried about the same temptation as you read about in Matthew chapter 4? Temptation of Jesus was tempted, all the days of his life. We need to understand that, but this might have been Court recorded for us for you. And for me, so we can see the kind of Temptation that Jesus had to deal with in order to prove himself worthy to suffer for you and the died on the cross, to be the circus that Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
I'm sure you have. Let me ask you. Have you ever given in to temptation? Most of us can say, well. Yeah, I have, I have sinned, I have fallen short of the glory of God. That's why Romans 3:23 says sand and come short of the glory of God, to get the Forgiveness of our sins and he shed his blood on the cross. So we could be forgiven and have the hope of eternal life is short of the glory of God are easier to handle than others are present.
If someone walks up to you. And called you a dirty name. Called you a liar says, he's bad things to you. You know, what you want to do. You want to knock his head off, don't you? I mean, that's the first
and if you don't do it and some people do do it, but if you don't do it, you probably think that right off, okay. And again, when you're driving down the road, you knowing you and trafficking somebody cuts you off in traffic and you have to dodge them and everybody else you trying to bring your car in the control. You know, what are you saying? You get to cuss in those you're not you know you some kind of an idiot once you get your driver's license at Walmart. It all you just really put out cuz you scared. You half to death. You think it's those sudden unexpected temptations that usually gets it, right?
We found it. We're a lot stronger. If a Temptation comes slowly and I have time to think about it and I have time to think, well do, how am I going to handle this thing? You know, what am I going to see? You got a little bit more time and you got a little bit more patience and you can make the right decision and not just give in to it. But those quick sudden temptation to do evil. Well, they're hard to deal with because you respond before you have a chance to get a hold of yourself and control yourself.
You know, I remember we used to do, you do you see our young? People used to put on skin and you don't see those anymore, but we used to do that. And I know you probably seen this one where this guy, you know, and the guy I can't do anything about it again. I can't get out there with all that traffic is crazy. Don't, you know, I can't get out there with all that traffic. Your bumper sticker. Honk. If you love Jesus.
Sometimes we get carried away cuz we don't understand what's going on, you know, but understand those kinds of things really, really have a difficult time of controlling our feelings in and controlling our reaction to the Temptations that we deal with. Okay?
So the more time we have, usually the better we deal with any kind of Temptation or trial or situation that we have to make a decision on what we're going to do about that. but,
The first recorded Temptation, I guess you could say of Jesus Christ in his ministry is the one that has been read. Following his baptism. Immediately the Holy Spirit, drove him up into the Wilderness and Jesus was there for 40 days and 40 nights. Fasting before the devil came to and the Bible says there that and he was afterward and hungry. I'll have to understand after forty days and nights. I think I'd be hungry too with you. So he put him in a situation where a listen to, you really would like to have right at that time. What he really needed was food. We needed something to eat. And yet he hadn't eaten anything in 40 days and 40 nights. You know, that's almost 6 weeks. That's almost 6 weeks without a bite to eat. So he was very vulnerable at that time. You would think I would be and I'm sure that you would as well.
But so I told the devil came to the start, but he had a chance to really understand this only. He only had to tempt Jesus, and Jesus only had to send one time to destroy his work as Jesus would have given into Satan and send our did contrary to what the will of God. He wanted him to do. Then. He could have just canceled out and left because he wouldn't be worth is the sacrifice for our sins. Exciting new. If I can just get him one time. That's good enough. That's good enough.
As I said, you can read this in Matthew 41 through 11, Mark, 1 12 and 13 Loop for 1 and 13 and John doesn't deal with the temptation of Christ in the wilderness.
Illustrate the first four verses of this chapter chapter 4. He says then then Jesus was led up by the spirit Into the Wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when he had fasted 40 days and 40 nights afterwards, he was hungry. Now, when they came to him. He said if you are the Son of God commendeth Stones be bred any answer. Do you say it is written?
Boy, and all that rot quite well, did he? Use the word of God to ward off that temptation to gather the strength and the power to endure that Temptation. And we know the word of God is powerful. And when we have the word of God abiding in us, we have a strength and a and a power that abides in us through the word of God and helps us to make the right decision at the right time. Okay. But I do, I do want to say this that Jesus didn't say. I didn't say I cannot turn that stone into bread.
He didn't say he couldn't do it. But he said he wouldn't do it.
Now here he is. You don't have fasting for forty days and forty nights and and here is a good Temptation and often times, you know a good friend you can do this or you can do that are the school due to go do that when it's the wrong thing to do and often times and I talked you into going to doing something that is contrary to the will of God. But Jesus, you know, I won't be angry about that my goodness. And he tried every way to tempt Jesus into taking of the bread, Stonehill turn it into bread after 14. Andy had a great multitude following Jesus and he was going long and it had been a day or two or a few days and they were hungry and Jesus said, feed the people and the apostleship. Are you spect us to feed all these people? We don't have enough to feed these people. He said, what do you have? He said, seven Loaves, and two fish. And he says, tell him to sit down in fifties and then ranks of 100 and so forth, and they said it down. Jesus offered a prayer to God. He took those seven fish and loaves of bread and two fish to the apostles them and he fed them. I need to look up I think twelve baskets of leftovers. Okay. That they didn't need. and it says, they are in Matthew chapter 14 that he said, thousand men, besides women and children with seven Loaves and two fish, if you wanted to And he said that many people are not awesome. And then you go to chapter 15. There's another great multitude has been following for a few days and he wants to feed them and the apostles against that. We can't do that. We don't have enough food and we don't have enough money to find these people and he said, offered up a prayer to God. Batum. And if Adam, I fed them. And there were four thousand men besides women and children. And we worry about whether or not we're going to get something to eat or whether or not God is going to make sure we have something to eat her clothes on her back. My goodness. It's no problem. It's no problem at all. So he said 4000, Jesus could do great Miracles. Believe me. And he could turn that phone into bread. Anytime you wanted to, he didn't say, I can't do it. He just said I won't do it, because that's not right. It's not, right. I'm not going to try to prove to you that. I'm the Son of God by turning the stone into bread. The Son of God. He said, yeah. I thought that was. So I thought that was interesting that a bunch of leftovers and it tastes of red, or maybe you did take some fish. It says they ate and were filled up Foo.
And it was still a lot left over in that. Awesome. I'll praise God for the power of God and for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Yeah, he could have easily. Turn that stone into bread, but that was not it. Understand that Jesus was a teacher. He was a teacher that came from God, and he was about teaching things. It was not about just proving who you was. He was about teaching, the will of God, and he did things sometimes in a miraculous way to teach something, but he also taught by the word of God and he taught by the life in the example that he lived. And it's a wonderful thing to stop and think about that. And when he said, he was really trying to say that bread. May be necessary for the physical body, but he says the word of God is necessary for man's Immortal soul. The soul needs to be fed by the word of God just as your body needs to be fed by Fred, okay. Buy food, so I think that's a powerful thing. And that's what Jesus was trying to say, You shall not live by bread alone. But by every word that proceeds out, the mouth of God life is, is it not? That's what the life is, that really means something that amounts to something that's spiritual life. That is fed with the word of God. The physical life into doing the wonderful things of God.
I'm sorry. I got to follow my notes here. I don't have much time to put them together. Sorry about that. I will take him up to the Temple of the temple. The Pinnacle of the temple and the following. You said and said to him, if you are the Son of God, throw yourself down for just written. He shall give his angels charge over you and in their hands. They shall bear. You up, lest any less, you dash your foot against a stone. So serious. Tempting, Jesus to come down. From the top of the Pinnacle. I don't know how to hide that.
It's more than stopping your toe or something like that. Believe me. But anyway, and Jesus, and Jesus is written by shall not tempt. The Lord thy God.
So Jesus saw that as, as a tempting, God. Otherwise, I'm going to put my life out here on the line.
What are you really a Targaryen? He's a teacher who's taking you and he's teaching me not to go out here and do this kind of things. That tempt the Lord God. We put our life on the line by doing foolish and ignorant things sometimes. And we need to understand that tempting. God. I think we could have got a lot more than we think by just being foolish and a lot of ways, you know something about this revival class together as the manner of something. But exhorting, one another and so much the more as you see the day approaching. I really would have got every time we have a great football team game coming on about 10 and I'm not going to be able to make it to worship. I think we tempt God when we deliberately willfully. Forsake the assembly Arlen, we willfully forsake doing what God calls us to do.
Maybe a Temptation for God to do something.
So we want to be careful about tempting, the Lord, Our God and understand that God doesn't tempt anyone. James tells us that a man is tempted. Let him not say, I'm tempted of God. For God, cannot be tempted with evil. Neither man is drawn away by his own lusts and enticed. And when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin and When sin is finished, it brings forth.
When we deliberately sandwich deliberately forsake, would deliberately do not do, the things that God has called us to do and commanded that we should do and then we are tempting. God.
Pray, God, he doesn't do anything.
Drastic. To us. The games will also say blessed is the man that endureth Temptation when he is tried or you shall receive a Crown of Life to all those who love him. There's, there's a passage over here in 1st, John.
and, The first John, chapter 2 beginning and verse 15. He says, do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not for all that is, in the world, is the lust of the flesh. The lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the father is of the world. Under these three, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, these three categories. If you will just about every sin, you can commit with it later because of the lust of the eyes or the lust of the flesh or the pride of life. And that's what Satan is doing right now. You say he is tempting Jesus with the lust of the Flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, lust of the flesh, was the eat that stone turned into bread and the and the pride of life is up on the temple here. Call forgotten. Save me. and the next temptation,
it's when the devil says. Takes him up to a mountain to a high place, where he can evidently see the whole world at his disposal, and all the glory, and all the power, and all the money and everything that goes along with that. He says, it's up to me. It's mine. I can give it to anybody. I want to give it to you. Otherwise that's in his power. He said, he said, if you do yours. Oh, well, that was the wrong thing. Jesus said to him. Away with you, Satan. You shall Worship the Lord, your God and him only shall you, serve? You're not awesome.
This man face that temptation but I I want you to know that that is a real temptation. But you know what, there are some other temptations that Jesus went through that are also recorded but not, I asked of that and I want to share those with you. They're there, there's some other things but I I want to share these with you were going to close out here, but think about think about Jesus and his ministry and it comes down to the point where he was arrested. And now he is going to stand before the Judgment of of pilot and of the Jews and it's going to have to deal with that issue. You got a little time to think about it. It's been a minute since I've been ministering for 3 years now, he knows his coming and knew it from the very beginning. Nothing surprises him in that respect. He knows everything ahead of time and he had his life prepared. And in a way it was ready to make that ultimate decision and make that ultimate sacrifice and go to Cross and died for our sins and I want to share this with you. It says. When they brought him and the Jews marketing, something terrible in, it criticize him in every way, but he didn't answer.
And I blindfolded him and a slap them in, they spit on him. But he didn't respond.
They shoved a crown of thorns on his head and his just suffered it. They beaten with whips and they beat him and beat him until he was almost dead.
And then they took him out.
Maiden care that cross as long as he could until he fell under it and another man carried a foreign. And it took the nails and they nailed him to the cross.
Drove those Nails in east Pete, in his hands. And then I stood him up. Dropped him in the hole.
And there they crucified him.
And do it all that. He endured all that and remained faithful to his God.
And responded in every way. The way that God would have responded.
Hey, Wally was hanging there on the cross. All this crowd down there, mocking all this crowd, booing him and saying all kinds of bad things about him. Now. He says he's the son of God, if he is let him come down from the cross and we'll be leaving. And they mocked him in Multan. And how I don't know crawl Sydney. You look down. He said to the people that were there, he said to the father, father, forgive them. They know not what they do.
What A Savior. Lifesaver.
And it was a man that was crucified on the other side of him. One on each side, one of them on one side, turn to the Jesus and he said, Lord have mercy on me. When you come in your kingdom. He was a center to Center and it was hanging on the cross because he was the thief, he committed sin. But while Jesus was there dying and all that pain, and Agony and suffering. He looked at this man and this man said that to him knowing he was dying for his sin. Jesus had mercy on him and he said today, you will be with me in Paradise.
He could have compassion and love and concern for others, even when he was in that situation.
And do you think?
That way your suffering. When you're facing Temptation, when you struggle struggling with your faith. When you're struggling with the situations of life and you really don't know what to do, or how to respond or or what to say, or how to handle the issue that you're dealing with. Don't you think you could turn to Jesus? Who knows? Who cares? Who loves you? No matter what? You could turn to Jesus and ask for help. Jesus said, On one occasion. He says you that are.
Labor and are heavy laden. You should come unto me.
And I will give you rest.
What a blessing shavery was what an example he set for you and me.
Learn to forgive others.
To serve God and love him.
Wow, what else can I say? You are invitation is yours this morning? If you. If you feel like there are things in your life that you cannot handle, if you're struggling with it, you're dealing with that. You don't know how to handle, maybe some of us can help you, maybe we can go to the father in prayer for you and ask God to help you deal with your situation and issues and Life to help you get things back on on the tract. So you can follow Jesus. As you know, that you want to or maybe here this morning, you not been baptized into Christ. Jesus said he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. It is simply saying if you surrender to me and repent and turn to me, you will be saved. If you'll be obedient.
So, the invitation is yours this morning while we stand and sing.
