Don’t Judge Me

Reality of wanting to twist what Jesus said to not offend us.
Matthew 7:1–5 ESV
1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
We continually make judgments
What kind of judgments is Jesus talking about?
He doesn’t ever want us to judge another person?
Log out of your own eye first
Then out of your brother’s
Judge with the right motive and method
If he meant that we should never judge anyone ever
Then we shouldn’t tell people to not steal, lie, etc
Telling others not to judge would be judging them
Watch horrible things happen and not do anything
Jesus is actually teaching us how to judge
Not hypocritical, Condescending, unfair or Judgmental
2 Chronicles 19:5–7 ESV
5 He appointed judges in the land in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city, 6 and said to the judges, “Consider what you do, for you judge not for man but for the Lord. He is with you in giving judgment. 7 Now then, let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Be careful what you do, for there is no injustice with the Lord our God, or partiality or taking bribes.”
Proverbs 24:23–26 ESV
23 These also are sayings of the wise. Partiality in judging is not good. 24 Whoever says to the wicked, “You are in the right,” will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations, 25 but those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them. 26 Whoever gives an honest answer kisses the lips.
Proverbs 31:9 ESV
9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.
John 7:24 ESV
24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”
Read the whpole passage in its context and understand the whole message being communicated.
