INTRO
There are 2 type people in the world.
Let’s figure out what kind you are.
Good news or bad news first?
Painter: How are my paintings selling?
Gallery Owner: Well, there is some good news and some bad news.
A man came in the other day and asked me if you were a painter whose work would become more valuable after your death.
When I told him I thought you were, he bought everything you had in the gallery.
Painter: Wow! That's terrific!
What's the bad news?
Gallery Owner: He was your doctor
wife: i have a good news and a bad new.
Husband: i am very busy.Just give me good news.
wife: The airbags worked properly in our new car.
I think we’d agree we love to get good news.
It’s also excited to give it.
No so much fun on the bad news.
if there is good news and you need it kept secret for a bit, i’m not the person to tell.
I get too excited!!
What’s the best news you’ve ever gotten?
maybe a few things come to mind.
A good report, a new child, she/he said yes!
sharing, exclaiming, shouting good news is what you do with it!!!
Especially if it’s for someone else.
I love delivering good news.
The Story and the accounts of what Jesus did is called the Gospel.
first 4 books of new testament - Gospels.
Gospel literally means, GOOD NEWS!!
Not just any good news.
It doesn’t rank at the same level as:
good news, the milk still smells good.
good news, my team made it to playoffs
1 Cor 15:1-4
“Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you.
Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,”
This is the good news that Jesus’ death and resurrection is the salvation of our souls.
Our complete redemption, our salvation, our hope,
only he can fully heal what is broken, restore what is lost, bring complete freedom!
No other news compares!!
And it’s not just for a select few.
This good news, is literally for everyone.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Romans 10:11-13
“As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.””
JESUS IS THE CHANGE WE NEED.
Why would we have the greatest news ever, the answer to every soul level longing, and just keep it to ourselves??
On fourth of July our dog ran away.
We looking and looked but couldn’t find him.
We posted him online, lot of people helped, and shared.
but it seemed like nothing.
Then we got a phone call, Someone had found him and turned him in.
Thought he’d be lost forever, but he’s back home.
Soooooo excited!!!
I couldn’t imagine finding something that someone is needing and looking for, and not being so excited to tell them.
The why do we keep Jesus to ourselves??
Fear?
Insecurity?
I’m not sure what people would say.
I don’t want to intrude.
People today are just bad, they don’t care, just a world of evil, nasty people.
2 Cor 4:4
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
Most people aren’t bad, they are just blind.
I want to break this addiction, I just don’t now how it’s the only thing that numbs the pain.
I’d love to restore my relationships, but I don’t know what to do I’ve never seen a good example
I want to stop searching, but I cant find anything to fulfill me and give me meaning.
I’d love to be hopeful, but I can’t see a way forward.
they just don’t know about God’s grace
They don’t know about the promises that are for them
They don’t know God’s goodness.
Here’s the good news:
John 1:35-39
“The next day John was there again with two of his disciples.
When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.
Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”
They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.”
So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him.
It was about four in the afternoon.”
Jesus isn’t just inviting them to come and see his apartment.
He’s inviting them to come and see.
have their eyes opened.
John 1:40-51
“Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.
The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).
And he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John.
You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter).
The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee.
Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”
Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.
Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
“Nazareth!
Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.
“Come and see,” said Philip.”
“When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”
“How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.
