Introduction

last week, we talk about Jesus preaching to the Jews.
‘the feast of tabernacle was going on. And hundreds of people were there
This is after His brothers tried to get Him to come publicly to Judea
Jesus would go privately to Judea
He preached to the people
HE tells them that His teaching is not His own, but it from the Father.
Back then, Rabbis/teachers would quote other Rabbis and teachers, teachings. Jesus didn't. His word came from the Father.
Jesus also said that if anyone is willing to do the will of the Father will be made own the truth.
He also called the Jews out, saying that they follow Moses’s law but could not even keep it because they wanted ti Kill Jesus
they even said that Jesus had a demon in Him
Now we more on

Read John 7:21-31

John 7:21–31 NASB95
21 Jesus answered them, “I did one deed, and you all marvel. 22 “For this reason Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man. 23 “If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath? 24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” 25 So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, “Is this not the man whom they are seeking to kill? 26 “Look, He is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to Him. The rulers do not really know that this is the Christ, do they? 27 “However, we know where this man is from; but whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from.” 28 Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. 29 “I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me.” 30 So they were seeking to seize Him; and no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. 31 But many of the crowd believed in Him; and they were saying, “When the Christ comes, He will not perform more signs than those which this man has, will He?”

v. 21-24

John 7:21–24 (NASB95)
21 Jesus answered them, “I did one deed, and you all marvel.
22 “For this reason Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man.
23 “If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath?
24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
Jesus could be talking about the healing that took place in the bath of Bethesda John 5:1-15 where He healed the man on the Sabbath
Jesus says He did this deed and they marveled (impressed) over it
Then Jesus talks of the law of Moses again when it comes to circumcising a man on the Sabbath to obey the law of Moses
Jesus is saying he that they are willing to circumcise a man on the Sabbath to honor the law of Moses, but Jesus making a man well is a crime.
Appearance vs.
John 7:23–24
23 “If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath? 24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

Two things Here.

1. Grading Sin on a curve.
Do we see this?
2. Are we worshipping and honoring others in god’s name over God?
Are we as Christian making up the rules.?
what we are seeing here is:

Jesus is rejection

John 1:10–11 NAS
He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.
John 6:66 (disciples) didn’t follow Him
John 7:5 (family)
John 7:19 (leaders)
John 7:20 (he has a demon)

V. 25-26

John 7:25–26 NASB95
25 So some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, “Is this not the man whom they are seeking to kill? 26 “Look, He is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to Him. The rulers do not really know that this is the Christ, do they?
Jesus was no weak man,
He stood in public and declared who He was.
These people saw that Jesus, the one who the Jewish elite wanted to kill was not afraid, and was speaking to them in public.
John 7:27 NASB95
27 “However, we know where this man is from; but whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from.”
Only information regarding Messiah’s birthplace was revealed in Scripture (Mic 5:2)
He was born in Beth
but they focused on nazareth (can anything good?)
Beyond that, a tradition had developed in Jewish circles that Messiah would appear suddenly to the people
If they studied they would know that Jesus
continue rejection and discrediting.
(ISRAEL SECERT hiding)

V. 28-29

John 7:28–29 NASB95
28 Then Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. 29 “I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me.”
Jesus Yelled
Jesus could be being sarcastic
JESUS IS SAYING THAT YOU DONT KNOW ME
Jesus once again says who His is.
Jesus is God.

V. 30-31

John 7:30–31 NASB95
30 So they were seeking to seize Him; and no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. 31 But many of the crowd believed in Him; and they were saying, “When the Christ comes, He will not perform more signs than those which this man has, will He?”
seeking to seize Him
This is leading to division. Some people are asking Is Jesus is Messiah?
