Intro

A Life well lived is first and foremost a life lived for christ
As Brian talked about last week in 1 john
1 John 2:3–6 ESV
3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
I think the first and most important thing is a life well lived is a life lived for christ
Everything must flow out from that
Everything we do in a life well lived is with this lense what does jesus say what does the bible say about this
As Jesse talked about we must first love God and abide in him and seek wisdom
So with this back drop lets start getting into some individual particulars and talk about how a biblical worldview how biblical wisdom can teach us how to live a life well lived
This week we will talk about something that will consume our lives in on way or another
Work
1/3 of our life will be at work over 90,000 hours at work
But most of our life will be work
It is our purpose we are supposed to work to strive toward something
This is God’s Design God’s plan
Is for us to work
Ever since the fall we have been destined to work
Read Genesis 3: 17-19
Genesis 3:17–19 ESV
17 And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; 18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
From this moment God says in pain you shall eat of the ground
Thorns and thistles will get int he way
by your sweat you will eat bread
Things will no longer be easy
In Genesis 1 we see that God had given all thing to adam and eve to have dominion over
They could eat of anything in the garden
It was all provided and it was good
After the fall
After this point the rules change
Because of your disobedience the rules changed
You will now need to strive after to toil in order to survive
You must work now
So work is something we all must do to survive
Work is more than just a job
We the bible talks about work it is always more than just a job
Work is the sweat and toil we must put in to survive
So the Bible says we must work ok so how then should we work
We should work diligently
Look at Proverbs 6:6-11
Proverbs 6:6–11 ESV
6 Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. 7 Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, 8 she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest. 9 How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, 11 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.
I love this proverb
Maybe to much because I
