To Bring Glory to God
To Bring Glory to God
As Paul states in Philippians 2:13 “13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” We were created for and exist to bring God pleasure, and ultimately Glory.
As the twenty four elders around the throne of God proclaiming in Rev 4:11 “11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
Being called to preach, we must first realize why were created and for who’s pleasure we exist. If we lose sight of this, we lose sight of the Holiness of God and his majesty. I must preach the Gospel, because I was made in the image of God and I must proclaim his majesty and honor to the world. I can do no less.
I am a Child of God
I am a Child of God
It would seem logical to argue that because I am called to preach, I must proclaim the Gospel. However, we are commanded to preach the Gospel whether we are called to preach or not. Proclaiming the gospel is the responsibility for all children of God.
As Paul states in 1 Cor 9:16 “16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!”
As Paul states in Romans 14:12 “12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” Each and every Christian will give account. How can we stand before Christ after having received such an amazing gift of salvation and not tell others?
I must preach the Gospel because I am a child of God and was given the most amazing gift ever know, salvation. I was lost, but now I am found. I can do nothing else but proclaim the gospel.
I Am Debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise
I Am Debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise
Paul stated in Romans 1:14 that was debtor, both to the Greek and the Barbarian. we are debtors because we owe it to the rest of the world to hear the gospel just as we were told the gospel.
I am also in debt to Christ for dying on the cross for me. If Christ were willing to take on my sins, and die and on the cross for me, there is nothing I am not willing to do for Christ.
I want nothing more than to be able to state as Paul states in Acts 20:26 “26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.”
Conclusion: My obligation, like anyone saved by grace, is to proclaim the Gospel. However, I have come to realize that obligation is not enough. I have to want to proclaim the Gospel. I have to need to proclaim the Gospel. I need to be addicted to proclaiming the Gospel. There is an adversary of the Gospel. This adversary will do everything in his power to keep us from proclaiming the Gospel. With man it is impossible. However, I can do all things through Christ. Amen.
