Prepared for use
Need:
God wants to use you (need preparation)
Prepared amidst the craziness of adolescence
Morida: · “If we neglect the priority of being a [prepared] vessel, we will forfeit the privilege of being used by God.”
Don’t take for granted
Body:
The Big Idea: Be a Prepared Teen
The Question: How Can I Be a Prepared Teen?
1. Flee youthful sin
2 Timothy 2:22 (NLT)
Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
Explanation:
Run = “Run away”
Negative = “Stop doing” (subtraction)
youthful = Timothy himself,
youthful lusts
2 Timothy 2:23–25 NLT
Again I say, don’t get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.

No to sin, yes to God
“Christianity does not consist merely of prohibitions, but of positive and powerful actions.”

Flee AND pursue
Pursue = to follow zealously
Four words = Essence of the Gospel

Don’t feel like it
Others aren’t doing it
Revolutionary
Faith: Trusting God’s character
Hard to trust
Others have wronged us
Faith in nothing
God sympathizes; reaches where at

2 Timothy 2:22 (NLT)
Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
Explanation:
Guthrie: · “To live at peace along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart is an indispensable requisite of the Christian minister, as indeed of every Christian, although all too often ignored.”
AKA: Unity is important for teenage Christians
The challenge: join others (look beside you)
Hard in COVID world (things are different now); but possible through Christ
Pure hearts = prepared heart
Not self-application: group application
In this together
Illustration:
*look back at shoes*
Easier to run and pursue with someone else
Don’t miss the people who are beside you
Application:
Have you looked right or left?
Do you know who’s beside you?

Join them in clean living.
