Intro

last week in revelation

the letters to the seven churches

what is happening to them specifically

what should they do about it

today we begin the why of those things

Before the Throne

after this conversation with Jesus to the churches

the first voice

come up, a door open to heaven

He was in the Spirit, all three members of the Godhead were present for this

the one seated on the throne

the twenty four elders

flashes of lightning

seven torches of fire

sea of glass

four living creatures- images of all things created that are before God and worshipping him then and now and forever

Scroll and the Lamb

what all of this has been building up to

what all of them were waiting for

in his right hand

written on the front and back

someone to answer the call to open the scroll and the seven seals

who is worthy of this?

the one who was foretold

the one who fulfilled all things

the one who conquered

the one who was slain

he was humiliated and rejected and being brought low is what makes him far above

its what makes him the one able to open the scroll

whats in the scroll? God’s will unfolding

Application

all three parts of God are seen here

all that his plan was is shown to the point of the lamb

the proper attitude toward God is what John needs the church to see with him through this vision

there is one worthy of worship by all things

everything calls out to him

everything he can see through and reach to even from the throne and all of these things recognize him

this is the image of eternity that we are striving toward
