Last week we spoke about, what can best be described as the depravity of man.
Pointing out the simple fact that no one comes to Christ apart from the intervening work of God in their life to give them a new heart and cause them to follow him.
This week we will take it a slightly different direction, but still build off of last week.
I’ll start us off with a question.
What does the word purpose mean?
See tonight we are going to try and briefly unpack the meaning of life and the ultimate purpose of everything.
Why does everything bad and everything good happen, and what is the ultimate goal and purpose for my life.
Small Group Time:
1.
What is the purpose of life?
Why are we here?
2. People often say that “everything happens for a reason,” do you believe that is true, why or why not?
3. Do you think we make life all about ourselves?
We as people naturally make everything about ourselves.
We all live in a world that lives by the grand mottos of “follow your heart” or “you do you.”
But the sad reality is what you and me end up being are glory thieves.
What is a glory thief?
All of creation was meant to show God’s glory.
But we as sinners have made it about ourselves, and in a way sought to take God’s glory.
Ways we do this:
Making up our own religions
Letting yourself establish what is right and wrong
Sleeping with whoever you want to ignoring God’s command for purity
And really as simple as being addicted and thriving off of the fake picture of ourselves we paint on social media and to the people around us.
We let our own wants and desires drive our relationship with God, when He is calling out to us and saying “MY WAY IS BETTER”
So the big game changer thing that you can walk away with is understanding that the world doesn’t revolve around you, but instead everything in our lives was made for God’s glory, and we as believers should live for God’s glory.
You want to start living a more joyful life?
One with a purpose so much bigger than yourself?
Then join the rest of creation with Paul’s simple instruction
