Sow Sparingly, Reap Sparingly
Sow Sparingly, Reap Sparingly
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Psalm 126:5–6 (ESV)
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.
This is an inspirational psalm. Some would reference back to King Hezekiah over two millenniums ago. It has a focus as a prophecy that was fulfilled time after time in Isreal’s history. When their community was overtaken and then restored.
On the surface this psalm paints a picture of a problem. What is that image that we see from the scripture.
Have you ever heard of a weeping sower?
Sowing is something that is something that takes place with an inspired outlook. But not here. It seemed bleak.
Some invest time in their business, their desires, their personal life. and things don’t always bring forth the harvest we expect. But here we see an opportunity to rebuild something far greater. To reap a harvest with greater meaning and purpose. Its the blessings that come from reaping what we sow in God’s kingdom!
So we invest. Invest in prayer, invest in fasting, invest in the lives of others. The one that you know needs help.
You and I Sow. We sow our time, our service, our story, our hope. This is that precious seed!
And we sow when it hurts. When we do not think or feel it will yield. When we don’t see it giving a sign that it is working. No sprout of life, just yet.
And some stop. Some withhold the seed. and do not sow. I am with you. I have done it. I have stopped before because the harvest didn't look like it was going to come.
But today, Paul says it best.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Don’t worry about seeing immediate results. Just, sow. Keep sowing. Keep praying, keep sharing this hope of Christ in us.
What this Fasting season has done for us has removed selfishness. We have left our comfort zone, and said yes. And this yes to sowing the message of hope, does not show gain at times with out pain!
As we get close to the end of this fast, don’t stop just yet. Don’t hold back the seed. Go forth and weep, but keep sowing. Serve with heart and soul. The recompense for this service, will be rejoicing! You will bring what you may have lost, and more.
if you are a weeping sower, don’t sow sparingly. Weep and keep sowing.
Place your seed in the chat. Is your seed being sowed for family, salvation, restoration, marriage, closer relationship with God, whatever it is that you are weeping and sowing for in this season.
