Lord, Get the Junk Out of Me -The things that will make me spiritually sick

·      Scriptures: Genesis 3: 4-6; 1 John 2: 15-17; Psalms 51:10; James 4: 1-4

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalms 51:10

What is King David saying to the Lord? Lord anything that is not like you get it out of me. I don’t want it

1.    David was king (Pride of life)

2.    He saw this woman – Bathsheba - (Lust of the Eyes)

3.    He wanted this woman at all costs (Lust of Flesh)

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. (Prospected as sinners)

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Genesis 3: 4-6

1.   when the woman saw that the tree was good for food – The Lust of the Flesh

2.   and that it was pleasant to the eyes – The Lust of the Eyes

3.   and a tree to be desired to make one wise – The Pride of Life

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

For everything in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life-comes not from the Father but from the world.

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15-17

When the bible speaks of the world, we need to put it in its proper place.

·      Do not love the world – The Worldly System

·      If anyone loves the world – The Worldly System

·      For everything in the world – Earth

·      The world and its desires pass away – The Earth and its Worldly System

In the World:

1.    the desire of the flesh

2.    the desire of the eyes

3.    and the arrogance of material possessions

does not come from God but the worldly system

Satan only has three weapons to use against us. /This is what he used against Eve

That is:

The lust of the flesh

The lust of the eyes

And the pride of life

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24

The Prosperity Gospel is dangerous, and it can make you spiritually sick!

2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

 Watch Out

15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. Luke 12:15
