John 14:16–17 KJV 1900
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
TEXT: “I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor … even the Spirit of truth” (John 14:16–17).
INTRODUCTION:
When Jesus announced to His disciples that He was leaving them, He promised “another Comforter” (KJV), “another Counselor” (RSV), “another Paraclete” (Greek).
John 16:8 KJV 1900
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
A. The Holy Spirit uses the gospel (1 Cor. 15:1–4) to effect the work of salvation in the believer.
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 KJV 1900
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Acts 2:38 KJV 1900
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
B. Peter said, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”.

3. He will stimulate our memory concerning “all that God have said to you”
John 14:26 KJV 1900
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
4. “He will bear witness to me”
- to show that something exists or is true.
John 15:26 KJV 1900
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
5. “He will guide you into all truth”

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
6. “He will glorify me”
John 16:14 KJV 1900
He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
7. “All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you”
John 15:16 KJV 1900
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
8. He said to them, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit is come upon you”
Acts 1:8 KJV 1900
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
CONCLUSION:
All that a servant of God needs to be an effective, powerful producer in God’s kingdom has been provided.
R.A. Torrey said, “It is not a question of you getting more of the Holy Spirit, but of the Holy Spirit getting more of you.” You cannot use the Holy Spirit; you can let Him use you.
