Intro:

It often happens in the Christian life, that after the blessing comes the battle. After the mountain top comes the valley. After feeling so close to God, there comes a time when you feel so very far away from God. The greatest temptations follows the greatest victories. The greatest trials follow the biggest triumphs.
After the blessing comes the battle. After the mountaintop comes the valley. After the victory comes the test.
And we see this happen with Jesus in Luke 4.

A. His Inauguration:

Being Led by the Spirit—what does it mean?

and thus the Spirit of God would be literally equivalent to ‘the heart of God’)

Why was it in God’s heart to led Him into the wilderness?
I believe that answer is found in the mention of the 40 days and 40 nights of fasting.
40 generally symbolizes a period of testing, trial or probation.
Luke Satan Tempts Jesus in the Desert / 4:1–13 / 18

forty days of rain in the great Flood

Luke Satan Tempts Jesus in the Desert / 4:1–13 / 18

the forty days Moses spent on Mount Sinai

Luke Satan Tempts Jesus in the Desert / 4:1–13 / 18

the forty days of Goliath’s taunting of Israel prior to David’s victory

Luke Satan Tempts Jesus in the Desert / 4:1–13 / 18

the forty days of Elijah’s time of fear in the wilderness

Luke (Satan Tempts Jesus in the Desert / 4:1–13 / 18)
And the forty years of Israel’s wandering in the wilderness
In all those situations God worked in His people, preparing them for a special task.
Can I say it like I feel it in my spirit? Where Adam and Israel failed, Jesus overcame!
You keep going in a cycle and you’ll continue to fail because Jesus is the only one know as the chain breaker!

B. The Battle

MMA-a combat sport in which fighters use striking and grappling techniques taken from a range of other sports
The contestes have three rounds to prove who is the best.

Round 2. Satan play on His commiment . To seek His ambition through compromise. Satan throws a hook and ducks and counters again .
Round 3. Satan plays on his feelings. To prove Himself through sensationalism.
