Read Psalm 119:33-40
There is nothing that will transform a man’s life like spending time in God’s Word.
As much as we enjoy time in the woods or with a fishing pole in our hands.
As much as we love time with our children and grandchildren, nothing transforms that life and heart of a man like God’s Word.
It is the only food that will nourish your soul.

Todays bodybuilders are freaks of nature.
At show time with exceptionally low body fat a 5’ 10” man is anywhere between 250-300lbs. Lean weight.
He does 3 things to get that big.
Works out hard.
Takes performance enhancing drugs.
Specialized diet.
-To get to 300 pounds lean weight you have to eat a lot of the right things.
-Problem, Your pancreas can’t produce enough insulin to handle all the food you have to eat.
-To keep from becoming a 250lb lean muscular diabetic the modern day bodybuilder takes insulin shots to help his pancreas along so it doesn’t burn out.
-None of it is healthy.
The point is, to become exceptionally strong and muscular your diet plays a vital roll.
The question I have is what kind of specialized spiritual diet are you ingesting.
-Are you spending time in God’s Word every day?
Illustration - We have all seen pictures of those who suffered in the WWII concentration camps.
They are utterly emaciated. Their body is just a skeleton with skin hanging on.
-Why are the like that? They were starved.
-They had no nutrition & no calories.
What would you look like if you ate 1 good meal a week?
-Like you came from a concentration camp.
-What would you spiritually look like if you had one good spiritual meal a week?
-You would be spiritually starved and weak.
-This is the case with most of our Christian men.

Average number of words in a newspaper sports article is between 200-500 words. We will eat that up quickly. A political article probably has more. We will goble that up as well. Between 200-500 words.
Did you know ...
Psalms 284 words on average per chapter.
John 888 words on average per chapter.
Philippians 545 average words per chapter.
-You would happily read a sports article about UGA or the Braves every day.
-Will you pick up God’s word and take in more than a verse, but take in a chapter or more?
-Will you give nutrients to your soul?
-There is nothing that will effect the heart of a man like the Word of God.

You all hear the fighter jets that run routes over head and sometimes dog fight. We all like them.
The fighter jet is at its fastest when it’s after burners are on.
Some jets can fly Mach II.
Problem, After your after burners are on you have to refuel.
You run hard & have to refuel.
Isn’t that true for us spiritually.
We run hard and need to refuel.
Let me challenge you with this.
Every day run hard with your afterburners on for Jesus.
Every day get in God’s Word and refuel.
