How to be more than conquerors
How to be more than conquerors
Rom 8:37 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
Conquer with more prayer
Phil 4:6 “Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
A. We lack victory because we neglect prayer.
Some pray about the big things but forget that is is the “little foxes, that spoil the vines”
Song of Sol 2:15 “Catch us the foxes, the little foxes, that ruin the vineyards— for our vineyards are in blossom.””
B. If we are to be more than conquerors, we must pray about everything, both the small and the great, continuing always in prayer.
What is prayer but conversation with God?
The Scripture tells us to “Pray without ceasing”
1 Thess 5:17 “pray without ceasing,”
2. Conquer with more promises
2 Cor 1:20 “For in him every one of God’s promises is a “Yes.” For this reason it is through him that we say the “Amen,” to the glory of God.”
A. Some of us falter when it comes to reading, remembering and relying on God’s promises. We unsuccessfully depend on our own strength.
Who is stronger - you or God?
What process will produce a better result: working out of your own strength or God working through you?
B. If we are to be more than conquerors, we must trust God and depend on his promises. The Scripture says, - - - -
1Kings 8:56 ““Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel according to all that he promised; not one word has failed of all his good promise, which he spoke through his servant Moses.”
3. Conquer with more peace
Phil 4:7 “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
A. Some Christians fail to be victorious because they lack God’s peace. They live with fear and doubts rather than with faith and confidence.
We live lives of activity but not lives of tranquility.
We don’t take enough time to “Be still and know that I am God”
Who is the power? Who is the conqueror? It is God working through us that makes us conquerors. Not on our own strength.
B. If we are to be more than conquerors, we must partake of God’s peace. Jesus said:
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.”
We must simply accept the peace he offers.
4. Conquer with more praise
Ps 71:14 “But I will hope continually, and will praise you yet more and more.”
A. Many Christians are remiss when it come to praising the LORD. They wear long faces, possess negative attitudes, and lack victory.
B. If we are to be more than conquerors, we must praise the LORD more. The psalmist said:
Ps 146:2 “I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God all my life long.”
He also said:
Ps 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
