TEXT: Matthew 14:13-21, and Matthew 25:31-46
TOPIC: Gett’in Ready for a Party
Bobby Earls, First Baptist Church of Icard, March 21, 1999
FBI is getting ready for a party!
We’re getting ready for a party and you’re all invited!
In fact, the whole town’s invited!
The whole community is invited!
Are you ready?
Are you coming?
This coming Saturday, March 27th, from 11:00 a.m., until 2:00 p.m., Icard is going to experience the “Mother of all Parties!”
Our church is throwing a party to celebrate Jesus and the lost are our special guests.
The poor and the hungry are the guests of honor.
I can hardly wait.
Jesus knew how to throw a party!
Matthew records for us one of several occasions in the life and ministry of our Lord Jesus in which he decided to throw a party for those who were hungry.
Let’s read first from Matthew’s 14th chapter beginning with verse 13. (Read Matthew 14:13-21)
1. JESUS SEES THE NEEDS OF THE MULTITUDE, v. 14
2. JESUS FEELS THE PAIN OF THE MULTITUDE, v. 14
3. JESUS PROVIDES HEALING FOR THE HURTING, v. 14
4. JESUS FEEDS ABUNDANTLY THE HUNGRY, vv.
19-20
Compare and contrast the attitude and actions of the disciples to that of Jesus, vv.
15-18.
5. JESUS TAKES OUR LITTLE AND MAKES A LOT, vv.
16-17.
6. JESUS OFTEN BREAKS APART BEFORE HE BUILDS UP, v. 19
(He divides to multiply)
Now turn further to Matthew’s 25th chapter and let’s read beginning with verse 31.
(Read verses 31-46)
