Scriptural Response
There are several different responses to use against abortion.
One of my favorite to use is found in the gospel of Luke.
Luke 1:41-44 says:
John leaped in the womb at the sound of Mary’s voice.
This baby was able to sense something special about Mary.
For this to have happened the baby had to be alive.
This child was sensitive to God and had cognitive function.
A child has a spirit while in the womb.
What does the Old Testament say on this subject?
First of all to abort is to sin.
Exodus 20:13 says
Abortion is murder.
Abortion is the shedding of innocent blood.
Abortion is either chemically done or the baby is literally ripped apart.
If the ten commandments is not enough to convince your abortion is murder let us look at Exodus 21:22-25
Scripture makes it very clear to kill a baby in the womb is murder.
To harm the baby is to commit wrong.
Those who have abortions and perform abortions will have much to answer for one day if they chose to not repent.
From 2020 alone there are 902,000 abortions that will have to be answered for.
Since 1973 there have been 60 million plus murders that will have to be answered for.
14,000,000 a year must be answered for.
14,000,000 abortions a year happen.
Proverbs 6:16-19 makes it clear it is something that will have to be answered for
It is an abomination to shed innocent blood.
I pray the justices who passed Roe vs. Wade got right with the Lord.
I pray the abortionist doctor gets right with the Lord.
I pray the lady who aborts a child gets right with the Lord
Then to wrap up the scripture discussion of this part let us look at the one we hear the most.
Psalm 139:13-16
Abortion is ending a work of God.
God already has purpose for the baby being formed in the womb.
Setting the Grounds for Discussion with an Abortion Supporter
It is a spiritual and rational discussion.
While abortion can be defeated with logical reasoning we need to be sure to let Scripture be central because their is a heart issue here that needs to be addressed.
People refuse to use logic a lot of times because they are spiritually blind.
Proverbs 18:2
Romans 1:22-23 and 2 Corinthians 4:4 says
Logic debate is not a replacement for scripture.
Emotionalism does not guide the conversation.
Which means let us take emotions out of the conversation.
That means our conversations should not revolve around statements like “I feel” “It just doesn’t feel right” “In my opinion”.
In the words of Ben Shapiro, “The facts don’t care about your feelings.”
When you are talking to people in support of abortion you will hear these type of arguments a lot.
Call them out on it.
Abortionist are typically going to use sterile terms.
Instead of saying a baby they are going to use: product of conception or fetus.
For an expecting mother they are going to refer to them many times as the impregnated.
Why do they use these terms?
They are less personal.
When they can distance themselves from the fact it is a human baby they can more easily “justify” abortion.
You don’t have to call them out on this but be sure to use personal terms when discussing it.
Us the terms baby, the child, the mother, etc.
By doing so you helping bring the humanity of the baby into the conversation.
Use clear well defined words.
if they seem to be using a word that doesn’t seem to make sense ask for clarity
Logical Dialogue With the Abortionist
Abortionist Argument #1: Abortions need to be legal for women who have been impregnated by a rapist.
Abortions need to be legal also for women because sometimes the pregnancy threatens the women’s life.
Response #1: Less than 0.5% of abortions are because of rape.
Abortions because the mothers life is in danger is 1% +/-.
The more common reasons are (most women mark multiple reasons for an abortion): 40% financial reasons; 36% it just ain’t the right time; 29% Need to focus on other children; 20% say it interferes with school and work; 7% not independent or mature enough for a child.
It does not work using the 1.5% (which even in this category abortions are wrong) to justify the 98.5%.
Abortionist Argument #2: It is my body, it is my choice.
Response #2: Do you have two sets of lungs?
Do you have two heads?
Two hearts?
Two brains?
etc.
You don’t.
So if you don’t have two’s of all those is the baby in your womb your body, your choice?
It isn’t.
It is a human being that has a right to life.
Another response i like to give is this.
Well i believe my clothes are inconvenient and restrictive to how I want to live my life so I’m gonna start going without them everywhere.
What is going to happen if I do this?
The first time I am going to get arrested.
I am going to tell the cop and the judge it is my body, it is my choice.
How is that going to hold up?
Not well.
You going to jail.
So why does this defense work for murder?
What makes a human a human?
When talking with an abortionist a good question to ask is: Is the baby inside the mother dead or alive?
So abortion is ending the baby’s life, how is this not murder?
Or they may say the baby isn’t yet human.
You can bring up the baby has human DNA.
You can ask to get the point across: Since that baby isn’t yet human their should be nothing ethically wrong with taking that human embryo and placing it in the uterus of a dog?
They are going to say this is absurd, but to get the point across and force them to come face to face with their poor logic.
Part 2 of the Fight Against Abortion
As we combat abortion and having it made illegal we also have a responsibility of making sure we care for the children who make it out of the womb.
Stopping abortions is just the first part of the equation.
The babies that survive need taken care of.
Which y’all are taking part of step 2 by helping Lina.
Along with advocating for political changes on abortion we need to advocate for adoption.
Advocate for ways to make it a more viable option.
Domestic adoptions 10k-15k or 20k-45k.
International 7k-30k or 25k-70k.
Or adopt via the foster system and you are only looking about $2,500.
We need to be role models to the ones without good parents etc.
