Virtue

by diligence, God wants us to add to our Faith
Virtue
Knowledge
Temperance
Patience
Godliness
Brotherly kindness
Charity
Virtue = moral excellence and purity of heart; i.e. separation
Someone gets saved, the response is to try to tell them everything at once that they should be doing.
Outer man and inner man
virtue has to do with the inner man
winning someone to Christ,
Spiritual failure and the weakening of our testimony is often due to an unwillingness to turn from attitudes, actions, activities, and words that we know grieve the Holy Spirit of God.
Are you willing to look at your life and assess your life?
Are you willing to rid yourself
We start deciding what we think is right and wrong.
You compare yourself with someone you think is not as good as you.
Can you remember a time you’ve quenched the spirit?
God’s countenance, shining on you
Let’s decide not to quench the Holy Ghost
Walking in the light brings fellowship with Him.
There should be a great amount of spiritual good happening in your life.
Spiritual Darkness
Rebellion, fornication, alchohol,
Spiritual Light
Grey
Attitude, motive, conversation
2 Corinthians 11:14 KJV 1900
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
We can be fooled
If there’s a question mark about our activity
Virtue = modesty and purity
Positional Righteousness at salvation
In that positional purity we can be accepted of God and go to heaven when we leave our bodies.
2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV 1900
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
How long will you condemn yourself about your past
The devil will keep reminding you of your
Your sins are under the blood - you are justified, atoned, you are a child of God
God wants us to develop personal virtue (daily practice of moral excellence)
Positional purity is not a licence to sin.
Many live under a bondage of thinking God is always mad at them
Positional
We have a free will
Romans 6:16 KJV 1900
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
this is written to the church
you become a slave to what you yield to
Romans 6:19 KJV 1900
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
When you gave yourself to sin - you were motivate to sin
With the same energy yield to righteousness and holiness
John 17:15–20 KJV 1900
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
Why are we left in this world? To shine
There needs to be a spiritual strength in us to withstand against the world
vs 17 - the Bible is what sanctifies, the Bible cleanses us, the Bible sets us apart
The Bible needs to come alive to you
vs 18 - there needs to be a time we are presenting the Gospel to the world
vs 20 - Jesus prayed for us - those who would believe in the future
There is power in moral purity
2 Corinthians 6:14–18 KJV 1900
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
There are those who are intimate with us
there are those who are a little more distanced from us
Then there are those we are trying to reach with the Gospel
Concord = harmony
Inside your temple certain things should not be present
An intimacy of walking with God on the inside
vs 17 - there should be things we should separate
Don’t touch the unclean thing
“The choice is ours as free moral agents; sin or fellowship with God.”
Isaiah 59:2 KJV 1900
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, And your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Titus 2:14 KJV 1900
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
1 Peter 2:9–11 KJV 1900
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
When you compromise your moral purity there is a war that rages - keep fighting
Hebrews 12:1 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
We are not only to separate from what causes us to fall, but also from what weighs us down.
Anything that slows your spiritual growth is not worth it.
We are not only to separate from what causes us to fall, but also from what would cause a weaker one to fall.
Romans 14:12–15 KJV 1900
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way. 14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
It may not be sinful but weighs me down and I have a responsibility to others
If what you are doing or not doing offends a brother or sister
Romans 12:10 KJV 1900
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Deference = to sho respect, reverence, and submissiveness
so that your life isn’t a hindrance to someone else
