Ask

Ask and you will recceive.
I have some candy here.
anyone want it?
“hand out candy as people ask”
Those who asked for some candy are you happy that you got candy?
did anyone recceive a rock instead?
Did anyone get like a snake?
right?
Well Jesus talks just about that Matthew 7 where he jumps into this passage that I want to look at nice a close.
Matthew 7:7–11 NIV
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
3 steps
Ask, and it will be given to you.
We talked about this last week in prayer remeber? God awnsers the prayers of those he loves, he even gives us the Lords pray for when we do not know what to ask for.
If we have hurts or pains,
we have problems that seem beyond us
we have momments where we feel at our lowest.
Jesus says ask the father and you will reccieve, the comfort in your lowest momment
the solutions to your problems
the resolution ot your hurt or pains
ask for what you need and the father who loves all of his children will contiune to love his children.
Thats you, you are his child.

Seek

I think we all are apart of this seeking momment. We are all learning here that there is something more, something stronger.
We gotta believe that there is something more to life then this. We are compelled to find the awnser to the questions we have.
Why is the world like this?
What is the end?
How do I overcome these feelings of
Anxeity
Depression
Lonlieness
Anger
Pain
When you look for the awnser to this then you become a seeker and you will find that Jesus has the awnser.
The one who died so that we could overcome sin, the root problem.
the one who came to show love and overpower our negative feelings.
The one who promises eternal life with him.
And to accept that all you need to do is knock on the door that is the son of God.
It all comes to this, where the searching falls to finding and finding turns to the momment of accepting.
Jesus is the path out of whatever you are going through.

Knock

Matthew 7:13–14 NIV
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
When it comes down to it we are at a fork in the road. There is two choices, one being the highway, big, wide, but packed with people. Everyone heading down it towards what? self driven goals? moral principles? Money?
The highway might seem like the right path but when we look at the narrow we see it in contrast to the wide path.
See the narrow is traveled by less people, fewer follow.
This path is Jesus, less people follow Jesus then people that don’t follow him.
He is the path that ultimately leads to life, and all that you need to do is accept it.
How? Well Jesus gives us that invitation all you need to do is knock.
Romans 10:9 NIV
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Maybe its time to knock again?
Maybe its time to keep seeking?
Maybe its the time to ask?
We maybe in differnet places of this scripture, where some of us are just needing Jesus to help us out.
Some of us could just be wondering and wanting to know more.
Some of us could be just waiting for the momment to take that commitment.
I encourage you take the narrow gates, the narrow path. There is nothing that will give you more life, fill you up more then Jesus and his redemptive power through his death on the cross for the sins of the world and his ressurection that overcame death.
Becuase he died a a horrbile death to give you the gift of grace, its a free gift, no price to it.
What are you going to do knowing you have this gift given to you?
will you pick it up and accept grace?
or leave it on a shelf?
the choice is yours.
Have you ever gotten lost? What happened?
What happened after you got found?
Have you ever felt like you hit rockbottom?
Do you think God was with you at rockbottom?
How has God changed your life since then?
