End of chapter 11 was celebrate the good times
Chapter 12 continues to address youth but instead of celebrating he is asking them to “remember”
Ecclesiastes 12:1–7 CSB
1 So remember your Creator in the days of your youth: Before the days of adversity come, and the years approach when you will say, “I have no delight in them”; 2 before the sun and the light are darkened, and the moon and the stars, and the clouds return after the rain; 3 on the day when the guardians of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, the women who grind grain cease because they are few, and the ones who watch through the windows see dimly, 4 the doors at the street are shut while the sound of the mill fades; when one rises at the sound of a bird, and all the daughters of song grow faint. 5 Also, they are afraid of heights and dangers on the road; the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper loses its spring, and the caper berry has no effect; for the mere mortal is headed to his eternal home, and mourners will walk around in the street; 6 before the silver cord is snapped, and the gold bowl is broken, and the jar is shattered at the spring, and the wheel is broken into the well; 7 and the dust returns to the earth as it once was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
Enjoy your youth before Life circumstances nihilsm and cynicism
Ecclesiastes 12:8 CSB
8 “Absolute futility,” says the Teacher. “Everything is futile.”
The Preacher’s “Objective” conclusion: verse 8,
but remember what he said to do before all of this happened… “remember your creator”
Ecclesiastes 12:1 (CSB)
1 So remember your Creator in the days of your youth. . .
The Preacher’s “Theological” Conclusion:
Ecclesiastes Interpretation

It refers to allowing the notion of God as Creator to shape one’s view of life and one’s handling of life’s enigmas now

Verses 9 - 11 - Concluding remarks explains his intentions to gather wise proverbs and teach truth accurately.
Ecclesiastes 12:12–14 CSB
12 But beyond these, my son, be warned: there is no end to the making of many books, and much study wearies the body. 13 When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: fear God and keep his commands, because this is for all humanity. 14 For God will bring every act to judgment, including every hidden thing, whether good or evil.
We have discuess what fearing God looks like practically from the NT perspective the last couple of weeks.
2 weeks ago… to pathways in life.. the way of the foolish the way of the wise,
the wise should seek to live thier lives not for thier selfish desires but for the glory of God
Last week we looked at a the notion that Solomon wrote how to be wise it to exercise prudence… working towards the future…
In the NT perspective, to be prudent is to seek God’s will and not our own..... to labor for the things of eternal value.
I spoke of the need for us to seek this out in our lives begining with prayer… asking God to supra-naturally transforms our needs and desires to be more in alignment with His.
The NT also paints a very vivid picture of someone who is seeking to live for God’s glory is someone who desires to walk increasing righteousness.

14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance. 15 But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; 16 for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.

1 Peter
jesus, if you love me, keep my commandments
paul, put on, put off
Again, we are not left to our own to produce this ..Holy Spirit…
But walking in the Spirit begins with communion with God in Prayer and a constant reminder that we are to look at our lives throught the lens of the Gospel

the lens in which we look at life through is important.
Romans 6:9–14 CSB
9 because we know that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will not die again. Death no longer rules over him. 10 For the death he died, he died to sin once for all time; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 So, you too consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires. 13 And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness. 14 For sin will not rule over you, because you are not under the law but under grace.
