Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” So the Pharisees said to him, “You are bearing witness about yourself; your testimony is not true.” Jesus answered, “Even if I do bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true. I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.” They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
Intro: We hear stuff at church or watch something on Facebook and we like yes that is what i want to do. We get excited and charged up at the words of doing better and doing great. Then allow the enemy (whoever or whatever) rob us of this Hope of freedom. This Hope of doing better and greater. My Hopes is that when you leave here today you have something fight with and new confidents in who God says you are and will be.
Jesus encounter these same issues and we can learn from him in how to find our I AM and Stand in it without fear.
I. Jesus I AM Proclaimed
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Jesus’ proclaim was a promise of him for you and me
This can be your I AM your Promise
God sent his Son so you will not be in the Dark about anything
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
When we follow Jesus—accepting him as Savior and Lord and following him—we are walking in his light. We no longer walk blindly in our sin, rather his light shows us our sin and our need of forgiveness, guides us along life’s pathway, and leads us into eternal life with him
Jesus stood and declared this truth for you and me of himself and just like it always is the haters stood up
II. Jesus Encounters the Naysayers (Haters)
So the Pharisees said to him, “You are bearing witness about yourself; your testimony is not true.”
They were inferring as so many haters do that it isn’t true because we haven’t witnessed it.
They place themselves in self imposed positions of authority or judgement against what they did not know.
They did not know truth.
Yet the enemy will try to convince you (through whatever medium necessary; I.E. People, your mind) that you need their witness or approval to do or live but you must be convinced yourself
When people do this they reveal who they with and what team they on and we should let them know.
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
III. Jesus’ response to the Haters/ Naysayers
Jesus uses their own snare against them (Their own law)
In the legal sense of “true” as evidence for trial. One who testifies about himself needs supporting witnesses to validate his testimony. Biblical law requires two witnesses for testimony to be legally valid
“A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established.
I KNOW who I AM and Where i came from and where I AM going
Jesus answered, “Even if I do bear witness about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.
You are not on my dimension to know you can only see with your eyes and it is not yours to judge
You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me.
AND OH YEAH I HAVE A WITNESS MY DADDY
In your Law it is written that the testimony of two people is true. I am the one who bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.” They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.
The Father cannot deny Himself
if we are faithless, he remains faithful—
for he cannot deny himself.
You been fighting with the wrong witness
you got to put the right One on the stand
we been wanting or Friends and family
our church family our frats and sororities
we been trying to use the world’s tactics
when all we need to do is proclaim the right truth and put the Father on the stand
we have at all times 3 witnesses to confirm who we are and the Fathers truth they cannot deny
so..........
Find your I AM and stand in it
Proclaim it and dont let it go just because someone bears false witness against you
Put the triune God on the stand and see who can come against you
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
AND further more keep hitting the enemy with truth
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
SO WHO WANT S SOME MORE YOU WANT SOME MORE
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
come on and take Your I AM find your I AM
