Lamentation’s 3:19-23
“Remembering mine affliction and my misery, The wormwood and the gall. My soul hath them still in remembrance, And is humbled in me. This I recall to my mind, Therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, Because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:19-23 KJV
Text comes from the scripture
“This I recall to my mind, Therefore have I hope.”
Lamentations 3:21 KJV
Don’t forget to remember!
1.
the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information it is the recalling of past especially the people of God in the history of his people.
It is with memories that a person or idea can continue to have an impact on our life, even after the person or idea is not in our life.
There was a quote that says a moment can last but a second but a memory will last forever.
My brothers and sisters life can be summed up by a collection of memories and experiences
True enough my brothers sisters that our memories are not selective we don’t get to chose what remember there are some memories that would love to forget, and some things that we forget. That we would love to remember.
As we Sis. Jackie’s life I’m sure has provided each one of us with positive memories. The memory they That remains with me was always a calm spirit and very kind.
I remember when I was still in school and I was Dec. Mathis riding partner in Aura he would pick me up
And ride over to his house and whenever I came
Over she was always so welcoming.
I believe she left us with a collection of
Memories that with a collection of those memories, that whenever our grieving moments occur. Hopefully those memories ring a smile to our face.
Main Big Idea
Christ and God rememberance of us, brings provide a future hope for us after the this life. Our remembrance of Christ should provide a future for us in this life.—
There is divine
In which applies to Gods remembering of his promises to us.
My brothers and sisters in a sense most of the New Testament Bible is a collection of memories of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
He ensured that he left enough memories with his disciples that they would have well
Documented proof, of his life death and resurrection.
Not only this but he ensured that the disciples would no how to remember him.
He gave instructions at the last supper before his cruxifictiom, he communed with them and said the bread was his body and the wine was his blood, and as often as you take communion do it as a remembrance of him.
Psalms 128: David tells us to forget not his benefits.
He remembered his promise towards Abraham and Sarah when it seemed as though they would not have a son.
He remembers every word and promise that he has spoke over your life
How do I know that because 2 Peter 3:9 confirms that the lord is not slack concerning his promises as some men count slackness, but he is long suffering toward us not willing that any should perish but come to repentance.
Just as there are promises that God remembers there are some things that Gods forget..that is our past mistakes and sins,
Micah 7:19 says he castes them in the sea of forgetful.
When we become his he does not hold our past against us… paul says in 2 Corinthians 2:5 if any man be in Christ he is a new creature old things are past away and behold all things have become new.
There is also human remembrance—
It is this remembering that provides the believer with assurance and hope when dealing with inflictions and life difficult moments.
It’s in these moments that we should remember his word.
He will never leave you or forsake you.
Weeping may endure for the night but joy cometh in the morning.
Lament means complaints or moments of
Grief’s.
I know we sing the song, I won’t complain, However, if we where to be honest there are times when we not complain verbally but we have many complaints within our minds and we often complain to ourselves.
Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
In the text we find a suffering man we don’t know the exactly whom is the writer of this lament Lament in first-person as describes his reaction to the suffering he has experienced. He uses his own experience as representative of many of the sufferings Israel endured at the fall of Jerusalem.
We find a suffering man who says he is made desolate, He says his teeth is broken with stone, That he is covered with ashes, soul removed,
However, when this suffering man, had a memory in the back of his mind.
And we he remembered There was a change in the his tone, in verse 19, when he begins to recall.
He says this I recall to my mind, he begin to take recollection,
When remembered He gives a resignation to his despair
When he remembered he gives an attitude of hope
He says This I recall, therefore, I have hope
It’s of the lords mercies that we are not consumed,
His compassions faileth not.
“They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness.”
The author explaines that Gods mercies are constantly renewed
It’s when he remembered that he found the courage to encourage himself.
For this I re-call to my mind.
To the family I want to encourage you that there maybe times after today when you might not have anyone to call and encourage you.
But continue to trust God.
Sometimes all you need is a memory
All you need is to recall something to your mind.
This suffering man, once he thought of a memory he then begin to think within himself, thoughts of hope.
In other words he didn’t need anyone to remind him. He begin to speak to himself.
He encouraged himself out of his putty party.
My brothers and sisters sometimes all we need to do is remember.
It’s is when he remembered that, the writer began to talk himself out of his distress.
Don’t ever think it’s wrong to talk to yourself. I heard somebody say your okay as long you don’t answer.
It was David who gave us permission when he said encourage yourself in the lord.
When your dealing with life issues remember the word of God and encourage yourself in the Lord.
When your dealing with tears-weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.
When your dealing with financial issues remember-God shall supply all of your needs accordingly to his riches In glory.
When dealing with fear-You gotta remember that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind.
For the Bible said so as a man thinkers in his heart so is he.
I think I’m going to get through this. Think your going to make it through.
Story of the father in the grocery store with his 3 year old son.
Johnny we are going to get through the this. Johnny we are going to make. Johnny we almost out of here. Johnny hang in there just a little while longer.
As he got to the desk the cashier said. I like how you were so patient which Your son Johnny you talked him all the way through. The father looked at the cashier and said. I’m Johnny i had to talk myself through this.
Family encourage yourself in the coming you can get through this.
Each day and every morning he will give you the grace to get through…
For his mercies are new every morning…
