Text:
Genesis 12:1–4 (KJV 1900)
1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him;
Dr. Martin Luther King once stated, “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
He’s explaining that faith, is stepping out, without seeing or worrying about what’s ahead.
Will you journey with me now, to explore the mind of a man, who steps out, Not knowing what would come from it.
Journey with me now, to the mind of a man who would be known as the father of many nations.
Journey with me now, to explore the mind of A man who would be know as a faith walker.
Journey with me now, as we explore the life of a man Who would be known to unfold the narrative of the bible and the history of Israel.
He though, does not start off as Abraham,
Yet he starts off as Abram
He does not start off as a father to many nations, yet he starts off as a husband to a barren woman,
His story does not start off as a faith walker, yet he was tested and tried over and over again.
This man did not start off with prosperity, but this man started off with and promise,
And the only way you can get from prosperity to promise is to go through a process
And some of you now are in a place of a rock and a hardship!
Where you know God made you a promise, but you don’t see what he said!
and the truth is, you will never be able to see the full manifestations of God, Until he can trust you to step out, when you don’t know what’s next.
And the truth is, I’ll walk blindly with God, than to know the end and be by myself.
Joseph walked blindly with God and ended up being in a pit,
but Joseph says I’d rather be in a pit with God, than to be in a palace with out him..
3 hebrew boys walked blindly with God, ended up in a firey furnace,
but they say “God will save me, but If not I’ll still serve him”
Job walked blindly with God and found himself sick,
yet Job declares “though he slay me, Yet will I trust him.”
David walked blindly with God, and David ended up on the run for his life.
and David says “even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for God is with me.”
You can even look back over your life and think things over, and say I’d rather be uncertain with God than to be certain without him.
and here in this text,
We see that God tells Abram to get from your country, and from your family and from your fathers house, to a land that I will show you.
He tells him
a. to leave his LAND
For farmers and heardsmen land was their livelihood.
for the city dwellers, land represented their Identity.
So when he says leave your land, He was saying leave your Place of security
he tells him

but God you’re making me leave my legacy.
It’s one thing to leave my place of farmland ,
Its one thing to leave my family,
but God you’re making me leave my father’s house.
And God is saying I can’t give you want I want to give you, until you learn to let Go of what you have.
Where Abram was going is way bigger than where Abram was.
and God is saying I know this is what you used to, I know you’ve been here before, I know this is what your family built, but where I am trying to take you, is bigger than where you are now.
I’m Going with God because
He Promised me a Nation
It was in chapter 11 we found out that sari was barren, but in chapter 12, he promises Abram a nation.
In other words When you follow God, God will make the Impossible Possible.

I am the head and not the tail
I am above and not beneath
Im thankful for Abram because Abram becomes Abraham, and Abraham Begat Issac begot Jacob, Jacob begot Judah, From the lineage of Judah comes David and from the lineage of David, comes Jesus,
