Recently I was talking to Pastor Richard and he was telling me what God did for him.He and Pastor Joan were on vacation in Monterey and he had a desire to play at these two golf courses.
He told pastor Joan of this desire and kept it moving. Fast forward to two weeks he met with a guy here in FF who needed some counsel the meeting lasted several ours and they both were encouraged.
A few days later the guy reached out to Pastor Richard and asked him if he would like to play a couple of rounds of golf at these two courses. Pastor thought wow I just said to the Lord a few weeks ago that I wanted to play these courses.
Like any good husband he said let me check with my wife first. And then he thought wait a minute Lord this is you and he accepted the invite.
As Pastor is sharing this testimony with me God is speaking to me saying Richard delights in Me.
The word Delight means to have
A high degree of gratification
Joy and extreme satisfaction
Something that gives great pleasure
The power of affording pleasure
What does this mean? Before we were converted, we don’t think much of God. He is not beautiful or precious to us. We don’t find him satisfying. But when we are saved, God opens our eyes to see his beauty and glory.
Suddenly we see for ourselves that God himself is the most attractive and beautiful being in the universe. We are overwhelmed by his kindness and goodness, his power and majesty. We taste and see that the Lord is good Psalms 34:8.
This is why David says in Psalms 27:4 NLT
The one thing I asked of the Lord, the thing I seek most is to live in the house of the Lord ALL the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in His Temple.
You see God becomes our one thing. If we have him, we have everything.
And nothing on earth compares to him.
Psalms 73:25 says Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth.
We need to delight ourselves in the Lord so that we learn to love and long for the best thing of all God himself.
WHATS NEXT? GOT ? STUFF
We often focus on the second half of this verse, the part about the desires of a heart. But if we truly delight in the Lord, then the one thing we want above all else is God. God gives us himself, and this is the best of all. If he gave us the whole world but not himself, we would have nothing. But with him we have everything.
When we envy the wicked, the problem is not that we want things too much. Our eyes wander away from God, and we try to find our joy in cheap substitutes. We are jealous of the wicked because we do not delight in the Lord. Instead we delight in a car or a promotion or a phone call from old boy or old girl or a bigger bank account.
CS Lewis put it this way
It would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what it meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.
We need to open our eyes to see the beauty and glory, the kindness and majesty of God. He is far and away the best and most satisfying thing we could desire. If the God of the universe gives us himself, the whole world is ours along with him.
COMMIT YOUR WAY TO THE LORD
David also tells us to commit your way to the lord verse five. The word commit literally means to roll. Roll the burdens of life upon the Lord. Let him carry your worries and anxieties. Let him worry about your reputation.
First Peter 5:7 says cast all your anxieties or cares upon him because he cares for you.
GOT QUESTION
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD?
Psalm 37:4 says, take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Taking delight in the Lord means that our hearts truly finds peace and fulfillment in him. If we truly find satisfaction and worth in the father, Scripture says he will give us the longings of our hearts. Does that mean if we go to church every Sunday, God will give us a new car? No. The idea behind this verse and others like it is that, when we truly rejoice or delight in the eternal things of God, I will desires will begin to parallel his and we will never go unfulfilled.
Matthew 6:33 says but seek first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all things (The necessities of life) Will be given to you as well.
Many delight in wealth, status, material possessions, and other temporary things of this world, but they are never satisfied. They never truly get what they want, hence the reason they are always wanting more. This is the lesson king Solomon learned in his pursuit of earthly treasures; everything is meaningless! Ecclesiastics 1:2 says vanity of vanities, says the preacher, Vanity of vanities! All is vanity.
On the other hand the lighting in the lord is true treasure indeed: godliness with contentment is great gain first Timothy 6:6
First John 2:15 Dash 17 says do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in them. For everything in the world the lust of the flesh, the last of the eye, and the pride of life comes not from the father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. We will never be deeply fulfilled or happy with the things this world has to offer. If we place our joy and hope in God first, he will meet all our needs. He will even grant our wants, our hearts desires begins to match up with his will. If we truly place priority on the Lord, chances are our hearts greatest desires will not be a brand new Rolls-Royce, but eternal treasure in Christ.
This world cannot satisfy our deepest longings, but if we choose to delight in gods way, he will always provide above and beyond our expectations. Jesus said in John 4:14 whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

TONY EVANS
David encourages the righteous not to fret over evil doers, for they are temporary and will wither quickly light grass under the hot sun psalms 37:1–2
The key to security is to delight in the Lord. Then he will give you your hearts desires. You can expect God movement in your life when your thinking and desires match His. He desires to bless you more than you want to be blessed. So commit your ways to the Lord Psalms 37:5 if you entrust your entire life to the Kings agenda, He will act on your behalf with righteousness and justice 37:5–6
CRAVE
What do you desire the most?
What do you crave more than God?
God wants us to crave Him more than anything!
God wants us to find complete satisfaction, pleasure, gratification in Him
And when we do that He will give us the desire of our hearts.
We don’t have to worry about what other people have. We don’t have to wonder why the wicked have this or that. We just have to keep putting the things of God first we just have to keep seeking the Kingdom of God above ALL else
John 6
