INTRO:
By Amanda Onion with ABC News posted January 7, 2006, 6:56 AM
The GREAT SEQUOIAS (the Great REDWOOD TREES) and how they may need better protection.
Giant Trees
Reach around one
These trees are Grand! 200 feet tall and 1500 Years Old came toppling down.
Why?
A botany professor at Humboldt State University in Northern California, who specializes in coastal redwoods and giant sequoias —Steve Sillet said, "Footsteps over time have a massive pounding effect to the trees' root systems."

Foot-traffic?

wow—just people walking around these Giants finally beat down the life-source, roots to the point they would fall.

Trees that could have grown as tall as the Statue of Liberty.

But, 3 to 4 Million guest each year walking around Yellowstone, Yosemite, and in the Redwood Forests… OUCH!
They came tumbling down, the whole house.

ACTION TO TAKE:
Push the people back and
keep the cars away
OTHER ISSUES— fluke wind and excessive rainfall.
but— think about it… foot traffic.
Solomon the son of King David said it this way...
Song of Solomon 2:15 (NKJV)
Catch us the foxes, The little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes.
Could it be said that
our flesh might be the vines to our soul?
1 John 2:16 ESV
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.
What gnaws on you?
small acts of violence, seeing how others live, revealing fashions, sexual innuendos in movies and in SONGS, white lies…
When authority is belittle or when what is right is picked apart till it is thought to be evil—how does that impact you in a negative way?
Isaiah 5:20 NLT
What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.
Another translation says…
“Woe! Judgement is coming…”
So, can the “vine” fight away the persistent fox? No!
WHAT IS OUR FIRST STEP
I think we will fail if we try mind over matter
I think we will fail if we try wearing blinders like horses.
Psalm 105:4 (NKJV)
Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!
I THINK THAT IS WHERE WE HAVE TO START?
SEEKING THE LORD!!
Hebrews 11:6 (NLT)
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 (TPT)
And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who give all their passion and strength into seeking him.
Did you hear it?
(2 points in this scripture)
1) Vrs. 6a. God rewards the faith of those that pursue after Him.
WRITE THIS DOWN
God rewards Faith
Faith is how we please Father.
Never by worrying or trying to obtain it in our own strength.
Matthew 6:25 NLT
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?
Psalm 55:22 (NLT)
Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
2) Vrs. 6b. God rewards those who give all their passion and strength into seeking him.
WRITE THIS DOWN
Those who seek him.
Never those who just try to figure it out on their own intuition or knowledge.
Proverbs 1:7 (The Message)
Start with God—the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.
Matthew 6:25–30 (NLT)
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
Matthew 6:31–34 (NLT)
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
TODAY— Let’s take a new step away from “Small thinking in this Large World.”
Our Father is so much greater than what we give Him credit for. If we are thinking it…IT’S TOO SMALL!
SEARCHING FOR AN RV
Wow! do you know how many RV trailers are out there?
2, too many:-)
We gazed at each one we saw on the road.
Marcie researched every one she could find online, FB, and scribbling on the restroom wall noting “For Sale”
BUT NOW… we don’t spend that much time into it anymore— WHY?
WE BOUGHT ONE. LOL!
DID YOU SEE IT?
We gazed at what we don’t own with desire—lust. It consumed us.
Once we obtained one, we can almost just take it for granted, OUCH! Or…
become content and draw more energy into what God has provided us with.
So, maybe WE NEED AN OLD TESTAMENT HABIT ONCE AGAIN.
Deuteronomy 6:4–9 (NLT)
“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.
And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today.
Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.
Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders.
Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Where could we start today?
ACTION TO TAKE:
Push back...
Remove the foot traffic of the enemy on your soul.
Prepare for the “fluke wind” by building up your spirit man with prayer and God’s Word
Take Prisoner— in other words Capture the “little foxes” that will spoil your life.
2 Corinthians 10:3–5 (NLT)
We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.
We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
Let me ask again… Where could we start today?
I know where I will start
Let’s pray!
