Communion Meditation
My name is Joe Jackson; student at SCC
John talked today about how there was a cost to Christs obedience, and it got me thinking of where His obedience ultimately led Him
Why would Christ be obedient if it meant suffering, shame, and death?
Well, let’s read verses 9-11
Jesus wasn’t obedient because He saw death and grave as its consequences.
No, He was obedient because He saw past that!
Because as it says in Hebrews 12:2 that because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding it’s shame.
Now he is seated in the place of honor beside Gods throne
That is what we are gathered here to remember.
Christ’s obedience to the point of death on the cross, so that we can be free from the sin that so easily trips us up, and now He is our joy awaiting us.
So as we take the bread and juice that represent Christ’s body and blood, let us remember His obedience, which not only brought Him eternal glory, but brought us eternal mercy and grace.
Let us take the bread; Christ’s body, given for you
Let us take the juice; Christ blood, given for you

When you give here at Westway, God uses your gift, through the ministries we do here and the missions we support.
And God doesn’t just use gifts of money, but also time.
Our ministries here at Westway wouldn’t happen without people being generous their time and money.
And I just want to encourage you, because I know that sometimes I need this encouragement too, to give from the heart, and not out of an obligation.
Being a cheerful giver comes from having a heart for God’s kingdom work; and that’s a beautiful thing!
So pray, and ask God to give you a heart for His Kingdom, and ask Him to guide you in your giving, so that however you give, it glorifies Him.
